Been giving a watch to the feb 20th 1993 Showtime PPV ''The Grand Slam of Boxing''.

-Micheal Nunn easily dispatching journeyman Irish Dan Morgan in the first round.Fantstic punch combinations and handspeed. This was just 3 weeks after Nunn had beaten Cordoba in the rematch.

-Azumah Nelson took a razor close decison agaisnt much younger Gabe Ruelas in a chess match. The Professor was the more assertive fighter and landed the cleaner harder punches imo.

-Terry Norris taking out Maurice Blocker in 2.Blocker as just a big target for the Terrile One and staying in punch range was a bad idea. The first knockdown left hook was a beauty.

Will get to Chavez chopping down Haugen later.

He puts a great performance in against Billy Hardy in the rematch, he lost the first imo but was a very close fight, the KD got him over the line.

    Chaney v Jim Henry

1933 it was Hard Times and The hard as nails henry was odds on to destroy the old man chaney but experience+terrific hand speed was crucial in victory.Probably chaney's greatest performance

    112-115 Sato.

    Good fight.

In the first 1/3, Sato did look really good (especially rounds 3 and 4). The last 2/3 of the fight was definitely Suriyan's, but after what I had read, I expected him to be more dominant in that part of the fight. Suriyan was like a man possessed from the 5th round onwards, although Sato stuck to the game plan, gritted it out and found enough success to take a couple of rounds that were necessary for the win.

    Rematch please!

These fights were all from the recent All-Japan rookie title card. Previous winners of this rookie title include Jiro Watanabe, Takuya Muguruma and more recently Shuhei Tsuchiya and Ryuji Hara.

    Judges: 50-44, 50-44 and 50-44 - UD Agena.

A dominant win for Agena against an overmatched opponent. Swept every round with only the 5th being somewhat competitive. Agena is now 8-1, with his sole loss so far being a close 4-rounder to Ryuji Hara, a top prospect in his own right. Fast, powerful and good footwork, Agena is one to watch in my opinion.

    Judges: 47-49, 47-49 and 47-48 - UD Sakashita.

Very close fight with every round being competitive. I felt Sakashita got it, but I wouldn't have complained if it went the other way. I don't see either really making a mark on the domestic scene from what I seen, though.

    Judges: 46-49, 47-49 and 47-48 - UD Kobayashi

Good fight with a couple of close rounds (1st and 4th), but the right man certainly got the decision. Kobayashi got better as the fight went on and the 5th round was especially dominant from him. Looks like he could be a contender on the domestic super flyweight scene.

    Judges: 39-38, 39-38 and 39-38 - TD Ojima

I don't like how this fight turned out. I have no qualms about Ojima getting the decision, it's just how it seemed the ref dragged the fight into the 4th round to avoid an automatic TD which irked me. Ojima was cut in the 3rd and took over to the doctor twice in the round. He was allowed to continue, but the ref stopped it early in the following round following very little action (you could only score this a 10-10 as virtually nothing had happened). I felt the cut wasn't too bad and it could have went on, but the ref obviously had a problem with it from the beginning - maybe he let it go on for the corner to work on the cut, but we'll never know if the work they did was effective or not because, as mentioned, nothing happened in the round! Just seemed a bit strange...

Toyama's bobbing and weaving was rather bizarre at the beginning of the fight. His movement was like Mike Tyson's...Well if Mike's upper body was supported by just a slinky...Ojima soon put a stop to this though when he landed about 15 clean body shots in the space of about 30 seconds at the end of the 2nd

    Judges: 48-47, 48-49 and 47-48 - SD Ozawa

Another very close fight. I felt Iwasaki sneaked it in the end, but Ozawa's rounds were clearer. No problem at all about the decision.
