DLH against Whitaker - Oscar booked out his schedule with bums of the month for a year to avoid Whitaker.

Tito was to blame. He wanted the bigger purse yet didn't have Oscar's starpower and got a gift decision to boot. No way was Oscar settling for 60-40, imagine that.

Oscar had no reason to rematch him. The pernell fight was awful cause Pernell chose to dance instead of fight. It was a stinker because of that and one of those fighters that you can beat but look bad in doing so. Oscar took the UD and took off. Who can blame him. Pernell is a crafty fighter but didn't mount nearly enough offense to win that fight.

I'm certainly not a Brit, and I'm a fan of both men.

I'm pretty sure Vitali would have taken the rematch, and it's pretty obvious Lennox thought so too.

Lennox had, at that point, beaten every man he had ever faced. He was at the top of the HW division. He had a win over his likely successor. He was 37. He had an excellent resume.

Why would he risk all of that ?

As I said, he was perfectly justified in retiring at that point, with his legacy intact.

Hello buddy, any other boxing history lesson you are ready to learn? Like the guy in my avatar had something to do with the death of his wife. Ohh, did you know he's not American? Do you think he's still alive?

Ohh, I see you actually figured out his name :lol::lol:
