Beautiful footwork, balance, speed and combinations. I enjoy watching him move about smooth, beautiful, effortless. He begins vs Demarco as if his skills are on another level, then slowly he gets beat down in the next to last rd. Today he gets KTFO in three????? Is it low ring IQ? A glass JAW? no heart? how can a guy look so good and have such **** durability? please experts weigh in...... I dont understand how a guy that looks this good loses the way he does.
Fight stopped due to a serious bad cut even though he was knocked down. He would have beaten this guy eventually, but he cuts way too easy. needs to retire.
He's a glass jawed fighter fighting 2 weight classes above his natural weight class. Don't listen to the spear chuckers either...roach had nothing to do with his losses. Eddie futch wouldnt be able to prevent those losses either.
Hard to say having missed his fight tonight, but his defense is rather sloppy for a supposedly elite fighter. His loss against Juan Carlos Salgado was due to his tendency to hold his right hand too close to his ear; Salgado snuck in a short left hook on the temple and KO'd him. So, his glass chin comes into it, as well. Against DeMarco, he was winning pretty easily until the later rounds. The cuts worsened what was already sub-par defensive skills and reflexes, and DeMarco seized the opportunity and got the TKO. Like I said, I didn't see tonight's fight, so I can't speak to what happened, but I think the main problem is his defense. Freddie Roach isn't particularly known as a defensive specialist, so perhaps their pairing was ill-conceived. But if you look at Linares' fight against Oscar Larios in 2007, he was still getting hit with a lot of punches, it's just his offense did such a number on Larios that everyone kind of forgot about his leaky defense until he started getting KO'd.
I thought Linares could really be something not a lot of breakdown on this thread except glass jaw bull**** anyone goes down if caught. Still I wonder if with the correct training these flaws can be corrected or is it over for Linares.
