Why do Americans never support their own in boxing?

The americans are into other things such as UFC, NBA and football. About ten years ago, and exponentially within the last five years, a large population of boxing fans were switching over to watching UFC.

I'm not necessary sure the reason since I have done both and I think that watching two wrestlers is boring. I would say its probably a combination of things. For example, you see fat kids walking around with affliction shirts so maybe advertising has been more prevalent. And probably cheaper for bars to purchase UFC packages vs. the boxing fights.

 

I'll take a wild guess. His two threads about Stevens' comeback didn't get much support/feedback.

 

Their support is definitely poor compared to others.

 

I don't have anything against Ward.... but, his style is not the style I like.
He's a dirty boxer.

I'll always be more of a Hagler styled boxer fan.

 

NFL, maybe.

But the NBA and UFC are not as vastly popular as many think. There are a few cities where the NBA is thriving - but as a rule I'd say most people that I interact with have the sentiment that "professional basketall is boring".... the attitude that we feel hampers american boxers also hampers many american NBA stars.

UFC? I'm not saying it isn't popular - but I don't think it's nearly as popular as many think.
