Why do Americans never support their own in boxing?

    because the majority of the greatest fighters are american....go down anyones ATG list and it's 70 percent american-30 percent rest of the world. When you've been spoiled by the best it's hard to root for anyone that isn't special or at least a human highlight reel type guy.

    No break out stars, and Boxing has become a niche sport. MMA is what the American's follow more and the new generations will also. Boxing promoters now cater and pander to nationalistic fan bases that is where the money is at.

    Wlad would kill both pac and mayweather with 1 punch, sorry but size does matter at the end of the day. I don't think you understand how big 6'6 240lbs lean is.

    Point is the HW champ is always the king even if he isn't as popular. P4p is a mythical concept.

    The best boxer in the world is wladmir Klitschko. Now obviously if mayweather was also 6'6 240 pounds he would whoop wlad, but guess what, he aint' and never will be.

    You guys are all answering the wrong question. American's do support boxing. It's the promoters that can't seem to capitalize on it. Here is an example:
    Gary Shaw putting on Tim Bradley vs Devon Alexander in Michigan when neither fighter is from nowhere near there. Bradley is from Southern California and Alexander is from St. Louis, where he is an attraction.

    Fights need to be put in their proper locations and tickets need to be at an appealing price. A lot of American promoters can't seem to grasp that, but the Europeans are excellent at it.

    Negative, the best "Heavyweight Boxer" is Wlad/Vitali. Niether of them have the raw skills of the guys in the lower weight classes. Your declaration is severely flawed.

    You can have all the skill in the world, it doesn't matter if you're too small.

    Fact is, put any "skillful" little boxer against wlad/vitali and they will get their head ripped punched clean off their neck in 1 round.

    Seeing as you don't understand that, you might be on the wrong site.

    Skills are rated, THAT'S reality, and that's why Wlad/Vitali are not #1 and #2.

    How can you rate skill? Is there a universal measuring method? No didn't think so.

    Vitali and wlad are the best boxers on the planet. To prove they aren't, you have to beat then in a boxing match. Until then they are the greatest. Doesn't matter if they are "less skilled"
