Just finshed watching Leonard vs hagler documentary.....

    After watching, similar to mayweather who retired before and came back, pac knocking out his opponents. The last few fights of pacquiao, he has lost that killer instinct and a bad performance against marquez. Will the outcome be similar to what happaned in the leonard-hagler fight? Thoughts?

    Unfortunately you are correct, History is doomed to repeat itself.

    Although a couple of things to note. It was still Bad Ass of Leonard to agree to fight one of the greatest middleweights of all time after a long retirement and when your prime weight is welter weight.

    Floyd agreeing to fight Pac who is a very small welter in his own weight class is no where near the same.
    It was more bad ass fighting tommy hearns that Manny by a long shot.

    I agree with one thing. Floyd is big on timing his fights. He is definetly waiting for Pac to sloy down, as his whole fight plan is based on speed.

    If they both do fight, both will be past their prime, its a sad reality.

    You realize Leonard was way more past his prime than Hagler

    I dont know, i think this is its own situation, and it will be its own kind of fight with its own kind of outcome

    Not necessarily. Hagler was older and he'd had many more fights in a long and grinding road to the title, incorporating that hellish Philadelphia circuit on the way up. Wear and tear wise, it's perfectly possible that Hagler was at a more advanced stage than Leonard.

    But Leonard had to retire after almost being blind, had not fought in 3 years, and was moving up in weight.

    I'd say that evens it out.

    dunno if i would agree with this....

    i recently watched a documentary on Hagler and it featured interviews with Leanord, who said that Hagler had told him he was pretty much done with boxing and couldn't focus on it anymore and so Leanord decided to finally get round to fighting him. Who was more past their prime physically at the time of their fight is debatable, but Hagler was no longer prepared mentally like he was in his prime

    and if im honest i think had they had fought a couple of years earlier Hagler would have won
