The percentage of boxing fans on this site is low. The so called 'chin checkers' all go on my ignore list so I don't have to read their drivel. In short, this board doesn't really represent the boxing world/audience much at all. Don't try and read much into the very small sample you see here. MOST boxing fans only watch the fights. That is all they care about. They have no clue as to what Gamboa has been up to lately so that works in his favor. Arum's lawsuit indicates he knows there is outside interference. You think he is surprised that Cuban ex-pats are not able to cope well with the world of capitalism? He knows to succeed in boxing you have to have a huge ego and is used to this kind of stuff. At the end of the day he is in it for the money. He kissed and made up with Donaire and Pavlik. In the end, Gamboa needs to get the council of someone that he can trust and knows the business end. Contracts are contracts. If he doesn't like the ones he has this isn't how to go about it. I do wish the young man well. I know it must have been a rough life growing up in Cuba for him even if he was given 'special' treatment as a top boxer.
WTF is Gamboa doing!!!! My fave fighter to watch right now and it's killing me to think he's most likely not gonna be back in the ring for a long time....he's already at an advanced age in his prime where he needs to carve his legacy....he doesn't have time to waste whatsoever, he's already behind the ball by not being able to defect until he was older. ****.

you have to be stupid to believe that story. It sounds so ****ing fake if you read the article from the scene. Saying Gamboa was saying " i love you, i love you". Give me a ****ing break. This is all a ****ing set up to make Gamboa look bad they are trying to find an excuse to put him on the sidelines.
Their whole story doesn't make sense based on what I've read. They don't even have a fight signed and they go ahead and start selling tickets and have a press conference even though Gamboa apparently told them (Top Rank) he wasn't happy with his contract and wasn't going to show up. Then this Abril guy just shows up out of the blue demanding a fight and next thing you know he's got one. It seems to me they knew Gamboa wasn't showing up from the very beginning, already had their replacement lined up and are using this opportunity to drag Gamboa's name through the mud as punishment for refusing whatever slave ass contract they were trying to lock him into. I mean, does anybody actually believe that they actually fully expected Gamboa to be there and Abril just happened to be there by chance?
