Too easy.

Going by your logic - fighters no longer being their best after being shown up (Lazcano fight) - I can easily say Hatton was also never the same when Mayweather got hold of him. In his first fight at 147 against Collazo, his vulnerabilities were laid out for the whole world to see, and many felt he lost. And if you wanna' go further into it, Billy Graham, a man who had trained Ricky all his life and knew him better than anyone, went as far as to say Ricky's best was left behind in the ring the night he fought Kosta.

Sounds ridiculous, I know. But I'm only going by your logic.

And from what I remember, the drinking and depression occured immediately after Mayweather. Not in the lead up to Pacquiao. He had already shaken off the rust against Lazcano and got back into fine form against Paulie, before taking on Pac. It's also worth mentioning that the proper depression - the suicidal stuff - came after Pacquiao. The one after Mayweather was just the usual drowning sorrows and stuff. He hardly threw himself down the darkest of pits. As evident by the way he bounced back.

Also, the weight that he shed for Pacquiao, was no different to the amount for Mayweather. I remember clearly him beginning camps early for both. Sure, the manner/success in which he cut/made weight would have been different, but to say he was ballooned up more in one over the other, is wrong. Search the pre-fight press conference images, if looking at pictures is that important to you.

Honestly, I have no problem with people regarding Mayweather's win to be better because he overcame an undefeated Hatton. Likewise I have no problem with those preferring Pac's because of his weight jump and the brutal manner in which he ended the show. But to bash one by saying Ricky was shot, or that Mayweather forced Ricky into a division he wasn't made for, is ridiculous. Both wins were great.

    Quoted for truth.

I will add I believe Ricky has come out and said he was suicidal before the Pac fight in his latest BBC interview, I believe he said during camp for Pacquiao he just broke down into tears.

Not to take away from the Pacquiao performance which I think was great,m just saying.

On a side note: I sure would have liked to have seen Mayweather Sr reaction to that lol!

Roach saw the Lazcano fight and knew Hatton was finished. Then up steps Pacquiao to fight another one of Mayweather's leftovers.

Pacquiao's win over Hatton is the one that'll be remembered 20 years from now, that's for sure.

I take your point, once again I feel that Hatton was in terrible shape against Pacquaio.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/boxing/17182090

The Hatton that fought Pacquaio, was not in the same shape mentally, and physically as when he fought Mayweather. Hatton was past prime when he fought Floyd? Who was saying that after he stopped Castillo in 4 rounds? It's also interesting to note that Hatton never fought again after Pacquiao, I wonder why?

Don't get me wrong, Pac deserves credit for blowing out the lineal champ like that, it was brutal, especially considering Pac was coming up in weight. But the Mayweather win deserves more credit, as Hatton was undefeated and many believed him to be at the top of his game. Look at those pictures, one shows Ricky in great shape at 145 to fight Mayweather, one shows him looking ill at 140 to fight Pac. It's not Manny's fault Ricky was a mess mentally at the time, and didn't take care of himself outside the ring.

Trolling aside Hatton did look incredibly drained / gaunt vs Pacquiao (the 2nd picture above he looks like a pensioner), and Cotto notoriously has trouble at the lower weights, and fighting him at 154, out of your own weight class and in his most comfortable one, is obviously (on paper) a harder challenge than fighting him at a catchweight of 145

Pacs knockout of Hatton was brutal

Floyds knockout of Hatton was methodical

If I want to indulge Popkins idiocy, then the common theme with both of these fighters is they both looked drained facing pacquiao, and when they fought (will fight) Mayweather, they looked strong and healthy

Yeah, he mentions only crying in the lead up to Pacquiao. He got put on his butt and was worried he peaked too early:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/boxing/17182734

But the suicidal stuff came after the knockout, from what I've read:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/boxing/15114640

Even so, there's no denying that Hatton was no longer the same beast when Pacquiao got hold of him. That much is pretty clear. Not that it would have made that much of a difference, though. He was always a knockout waiting to happen. Especially if he was coming across a fleet-footed southpaw punching at crazy angles with crazy power and crazy speed. As mentioned before, if Collazo could **** with him, Pacquiao at his very best - as he was that night - would still have destroyed him.

The Hatton that PBF beat was a bull that was full of confidence. The Hatton that Pac beat had a **** camp and was on coke. PBF beat the superior version hands down.:deal

    Yes, I agree.

    But that isn't shot.

Noone was saying that at the time. That's my point. Just like noone was saying Hatton was shot when he was heading into the Pac fight. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. People use it freely when criticizing Pac's win. But ignore it when looking at Mayweather's.

Err, because he almost got killed? It certainly wasn't because he was planning on drawing the curtains right after Pac.

There isn't much of a difference, but Hattons preparation for the Pacquiao fight was appalling

I agree with what you are saying, like I said I'm not trying to discredit Pacquiaos win because the Knock Out was great.

It just his fans (putting it politely) don't want to give ANY credit to Mayweather for any of his victories.

    People have short memories..........
