well that's the issue with modern weigh ins isn't it. so take jofre v donaire at bw with a 24 hour weigh in. who do you think wins?
Guzman certainly had the potential to make things interesting against Pac or Barrera. Too bad his greatest achievement is victory over Soto. By the way Soto fight was the last time Guzman looked prime.
My point is make Nonito weigh in on the same day. Doubt he'd have the credentials he has now. And Jofre beats him IMO. Not a huge size disadvantage here, seeing as Jofre was a more than capable featherweight past his best. Nonito looks beautiful, but post-115 I'm not sold on him. Bar Hasegawa, Montiel's form was poor and he was betrayed at super fly IMO (Fernando was never the main man there) so it's a good rather than great win IMO. I do rate Montiel as a fighter and a puncher, but it's not the kinda' win where I'd say 'best H2H ever', especially when it's clear Nonito is a little lost when he has to create opportunities for himself. Anyway, Nonito against Arguello at 130?
I agree......long arms and fast feet wasn´t really a big problem for Eder against Legra for example who was extremely quick too.....even though Eder was way past his prime there.....those accurate overhand rights would be a big problem for Donaire IMO.
It's impossible to say if he'd have the same credentials, well not impossible, but it's hard to predict considering it's the current era he fights in. Donaire fit my bill for athletic god. One win over montiel probably isn't enough to justify him ahead of panama, ortiz, jofre, harada, zamora, zarate, chandler, lora, canizales, rafael marquez, hasegawa. I'm **** at this division and need to watch more of the guys from it. Just haven't got to it yet. Arguello pushes his (and anyone's imo) **** in at 130.
My 'credentials' post refers to his 'achievements'; with same day weigh-in's he may have not started as low and garnered as many 'titles' I could well be wrong and Its entirely spurious, but I don't think he's really moved 'up' in weight, rather stopped dragging himself down (Pacqiuao's the same) He may still have been a quality featherweight fighting fellow weight cutters. No issue with that whatsoever. I think Khaokor beats him anyway.
:blood Honestly, Mayweather's movement, speed and counterpunching would discombobulate the great Arguello, particularly over 12. I could see Alexis stopping him late in a 15-rounder, but his conditioning (he is rarely ever out of fighting shape) could feasibly carry him through to hang on and take a decision after blowing open a wide lead in the early to mid rounds.
Moon had the power. Khaokor would absolutely bamboozle his brother. As kids, Khaosai's edge in power was apparent. He says he swapped with his brother before the third round and knocked a guy out he was struggling with
Agreed. Awful matchup for Alexis, but he'd still give Floyd a better fight than anyone else has. Very competitive, but with a clear victor, Floyd via decision.
I'm taking Arguello over Floyd any day of the week. Please don't make me review my opinion on it because I've been quite happy with it so far :good
