I would recommend that Mark continue to persue Chauncy's left overs, like Hasim Rahman, David Rodriguez, Donnell Holmes and others do. Tauasa in that region. Galen Brown, Byron Polley, or Bert Cooper would work too. Let Chauncy blaze the trail towards the title and soften everyone up. Mark can safely sneak in from behind.
Why not ask nonna who her little Bobby should be 'fighting' next then atsch This content is protected
Also...on advice...Chauncy is following some of mine right now. But the Dinosaurs that would really give him a boost keep and kept ducking. Tuaman and Monte Barrett especially. McCall was a good Dinosaur. Briggs is like a wounded T-Rex and keeps limping away from a match. Rahman used Chauncy's leftovers to get a shot at the WBA HW Title, but he flew off like a pterodactyl when challenged. So Bert Cooper it is. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85eZF07lGTA[/ame]
Man somoene just needs to man up and fight Welliver, the shameless ducking is just getting embarrasing now.
McCall is definitely tough - but the dude couldnt even get a license to fight on a reserve - where licenses are sposed to be much easier to get - there is obviously a big problem with Ollie - don't know what it is though and wouldnt want to speculate. But fighting Bert Cooper is just sad. I hate this kind of fight its awful for the sport.
Bert Cooper fought Luis Ortiz last time out. Ortiz is a serious Peurto Rican prospect and is World Ranked. Team ortiz brought him in as Plan A. And then Bert got paid, Luis got the win over a name, and everyone was ok and better off for it. team Welliver took Bert Cooper as Plan C or even lower than that. Plan A was McCall, Plan B was Robert Daniels, Bert was the last option. When it is over though, Bert will get paid, Chauncy will get a semi decent win for the late switches, and all will undoubtedly be ok. If some of you folks want to help Bert out in another way besides fighting, try helping him get a gig in boxing doing something else. But until then, if he gets a fight and walks away healthy and better able to take care of himself, f off on calling out those who give him that opportunity. Bert has passed all of the tests required to go out and make a living. And it is not his Plan A either. He obviously came back because he weighed his options as a man and determined that his best option was to do some more prize fighting. After tonight, hopefully he has better options with that check in his pocket. But don't underestimate Bert. That old boy will be coming to win and is thinking to himself....if I can beat this guy I could be world ranked and really get a fat pay day. So this is not bad for boxing. It is a potential cinderella story for Bert at the most and it is most likely a good paycheck in his pocket for his efforts at the least. Braddock's Cinderella story came after 23 losses. Same as Bert. Big George Foreman was still fighting for the HW Championship of the World from 45-48 years old. Bert is only 46. Bert did the work and nobody knows his risk vs reward better than he does. He's going for something huge. And he deserves his right to try. I won't go as far as wishing him luck but I will respect his effort in trying.
James Braddock was 14-20-1 going into his fight with Max Baer. 11-20-1 going into his undercard 5 round bout at MSG to start his streak. 4 fights later he was was HW Champion Of The World. As for 190 to now 232 for this fight.....look at Shannon Briggs man. Guys get bigger as they age. Bert is in good shape and taking fights against guys who could spring him to Cinderella Man types of success. Give the man his credit for taking his shot.
The only word to describe Bert Cooper still fighting at 46 is tragedy. It's not good for the sport and it's even worse for Cooper's own health and future. People above using George Foreman as an example as to why Cooper should be fighting at 46 is absurd. Foreman did what nobody else in the history of boxing had, and has ever done. He was the exception amongst exceptions because he was an extraordinary talent. Cooper by comparison is just an old guy desperately trying to eke out a dollar doing something he should be protected from at 46.
Smokin Bert gets Smoked UD 100-90 99-91 99-91 There is your next De Mori opponent Totalpac if Mark can stop him like Calloway and keep stalking Welliver like that he could sneak into a big fight.
