pretty hard to land an overhand right while shooting on a guy that's like a foot taller than you

I f he is not aggressive he will have a more difficult time winning. I am not saying reckless aggression just push the fight and make Jones move off of his back leg. It would serve Jones better in his career if he is not the aggressor

He wont be aggressive, he will be looking to stay out of harms way and counter., same as he always does. Difference being Jones has an insane reach advantage, and is better in the clinch, which is Rashad's go to move when his strikes aint working or he gets tagged. Never are really great combination fighters, but Jones his improving in that aspect and Evans his still a hit and move guy

It would serve Jones better if he finishes Evans ASAP

This is a really complex question ..................

Which by no means is cut and dry yes or no

The big question for me is , can Rashad Evans " CONSISTENTLY " take Jones to the mat , and control him there , i do not believe he can , therefore i see Evans at some stage being short on answers to the problem that is Jon Jones , especially when it comes to the wrestling / grappling aspect

Striking - Jones , tall rangy well rounded striker , who is difficult to hit , and seems to have a strong chin

Evans - Short compact explosive boxer who strikes for take downs and not necessarily to score or damage opponents , who is actually chinny

How does Evans outwork Jon Jones to the point where Jones becomes uncomfortable enough to make mistakes to allow Evans to either land inside , short , power shots or secure a TD , well he doesn't does he ??? , Jones will strike out of range and sprawl on Rashad every time he looks like he's going to shoot

This is bad news for Rashad because Jones is more athletic than he is , he is younger than he is , and he has a better gas tank than he does , the question with no answer amongst all this is , who is stronger mentally ???

I believe that to be Rashad Evans , but !!! , Jones is untested mentally , and that means he is somewhat of an uncompleted puzzle in that aspect , which is neither good or bad for Rashad , as Jones is capable of taking his game to the next level if / when he's tested in the cage , and the next level is not what Rashad Evans wants to be seeing

This. Evans won't do much. Although he might be lucky to score a rare take down he's not going to do much in Jones guard much less for keeping him there.
Stylistically Jones presents a ton of problems for Rashad that he simply doesn't have the skills to deal with. He'll do his usual cute act and either loose a wide UD or get TKO'ed.

Hendo has taken too many blows to the head, Jones is gonna be the one scoring the takedowns, Evans is in over his head, he`ll get picked apart & busted up on the feet then taken down & pounded into submission within 3 or 4 rounds... this will be a borderline mismatch IMO.

No way in hell does Rashad have the chin to last 3-4 rounds with Jones.

:lol:I do agree that if someones going to do the taking down, Its Jones. Rashads great at shooting for a TD and even then I dont think he can really get inside.

On a clinch, Jones will probably slam him like he does everyone else.

Rashad is also great at feints to set up his TDs, he keeps his opponent guessing (example below)

You just made the case for why amateur credentials are irrelevant. The guy with the best wrestling game in the sport doesn't even have an amateur wrestling background.

You know who else has better credentials than Rashad? Phil Davis. Davis was a national champion and four-time All-American. Rashad's collegiate record was just above .500 and he only qualified for the national tournament once. Based on their amateur resumes, Davis should have done to Rashad what Rashad did to him.

More like once when Jones had just started training at Jackson's.

If Rashad couldn't pound out a one-dimensional Phil Davis who was gassed and defenseless for the second half of their fight, I seriously doubt that he'd be able to do it Jones. But hey, anything's possible.
