Also consistency, longivety and a great looking record.

And probably because some guy from Ring Magazine named him the greatest Asian fighter of all time:lol:

based on the fights I've seen I'd have to strongly disagree there.

Wlad is technically sound and dominates his opposition behind the jab breaking them down slowly until they're a punch bag.

that being said, a 6foot6 version of Galaxy probably rapes Wladimir.

I'm watching Foster v Ahumada atm, doesn't make for great viewing tbh. Didn't catch the first 4 but 5 and 6 Ahumada took and Foster looks a shell of himself. It's fair to say that ali ruined him.

I'll watch the rest of it now but I'll be amazed if he turns it round and makes the draw verdict seem legit.

Yeah Ahumada was robbed against the faded foster.

Lost a close 9-6 to Conteh though.

Jorge had a pretty rough run luf...he was ranked in the top 5 for almost a year I think approaching his eventual title shot against Foster...got very hard done by there when he finally got a shot..then had the fortune of having to fight an up and coming Conteh and his compatriot foil in Galindez in his subsequent title shots.

    Bad luck I guess.

    Definitely.

Even looking at his earlier career he had plenty of fights with Galindez as he was a prospect.

I think he should have been given the belts against Foster though, such a great performance even if ti was against a faded legend.

Best LHW in the world for a few months :good

Orono was past it as well. Khaosai was tough, but he could be rocked and dropped. He was slow and plodding because he was massive at the weight. He just bulldozed people. He had his limitations.

Lora can clarify, but I imagine seeing only a few bits of Khaosai (a few Thais on ITV in the 80s, including the Galaxy Bros.) and just reading about him in the mags. 'This Thai bloke has made 100 defences and sparked a million people out' I don't think it's hard to see why the legend grew. Khaosai is one of the few who have really suffered a retrospective Internet reputation ruining.

Poontarat was better IMO, but just didn't have any longevity in him.

For all Khaosai's flaws though, he does have some good wins, does have a consistent run where no one beats him, and was a considerable physical presence at the weight. He was good, very good in fact. But not great, although he was better than Wonjongkam and probably deserved a lower spot in the top ten at some point.

Now re-watch Khaokor-Moon II and Vasquez. I think it'll all come together now and you'll see I haven't been shot away all this time ;-)

Awaiting Bujia's input on Galaxy Khaosai eagerly!

He was consistent, deifntiely, just consistantly hittable, consistently durable, and consistently powerful imo. A tank.

I don't think he was ever the best in the division though. Roman, Laciar, Rojas, Konadu and Moon all should have been above him imo.

Strangely Quiroga topped the rankings at some point also and I have no idea why?

And tank is often used for Khaosai and again it's perfectly apt IMO. Bus Station would've mullered him.

Just watch Galindez v Kates 1.

This is one of the performances that really impressed me. I've seen loads of great performances lately expecting them to be great but after seeing the first 3 rounds of this I was expecting to see a battle of attrition due to physical attributes (kinda like margo v cotto).

The first 3 rounds Victor plays the part of slow starter and Kates happily throws his jab at him for 8 and a half minutes. Galindez is decent defensively here but basically throws away the rounds aside from a few hefty body shots. Then Kates headbutts Galindez and he really awakened the beast.

Galindez was so multi faceted in his attack that I was amazed how effective he was. He began by physically overwhelming Kates and forcing his respect by shoving him against the ropes and pounding away, it weren't pretty but it did his job. He then focused on counter attacks timing Kates beautifully and landing hard shots.

By this point Kates must have been frustrated because he didn't really adapt and just kept behind his jab hoping for the same success.

Galindez then really takes the **** by outjabbing Kates for a couple of rounds on the outside.

The last 2 rounds see Galindez walking Kates onto some beautifully timed shots, but Kates is probably outworking him.

The finish was a glorious 1 punch knockout.

I'm not saying it's the best performance I've seen lately, but the way Galindez adapted from the early rounds really impressed me.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it and giving him unwarranted ring IQ points, I dunno. But I think any LHW is gonna have the fight of their life against that version of Galindez. Great adapting, great strength, great punch variety and nice defensive moves also.

it'd be kinda like declaring the winner of gatti - ward the best in the division though.

    stil, I've seen worse calls.

    I wouldn't agree though.

Kates really was a top drawer contender. Please tell me you've seen his fight with Saad??!?!
