Should we hype up the ring entrances and 'the event' to bring in the casual fans?

The Klitchko entrances are part of the event in Germany. In the ITV prime Hamed, Eubank and Co could hype up the audience.

My 9 year old lad loves WWE, and when I see it on you can see that they use every trick in the book to promote and build up the action.

Most fighters enjoy the ring walk. I think we are under selling and should take a lesson from Germany and WWE.

  2. That's the worst thing about German fights, having to listen to some **** German rock band for 10 minutes before the fighters come out.

What was that **** on the Russian card last night? Some resident house band playing on the stage next to the ring and some sort of Russia's Got Talent contest going on before the fight. Who the **** was that geek of a rapper, looked like they'd just dragged him in off the street to fill for 5 minutes.

I agree, but if it brings in the younger audience it can only be better for the sport

  4. I'd rather they got into the sport because they wanted to see the fights rather than because JLS were doing a medley for ring walks.

The reason the Germans do all that rubbish is because their crowds are full of quiet little gnome's who think sitting and clapping is the right way to watch a boxing match.

Over here, the drunken roar of **** heads is good enough for us not to need a load of that crap.

The casual fans would respond to exciting fighters and blood-and-guts fights.

Fans want fighters with charisma, and fighters WHO FIGHT.

They want to see knock-outs, and violence, and maybe a touch of showmanship.

The rest of it is just fluff.

It costs money that the promoters don't have.

And you have to remember that the smallest arenas a WWE television show is in are bigger than the Trent FM Arena that Froch is fighting Bute for a world title in. And of course the bog standard british boxing event is an arena/hall/leisure centre far smaller than that. There's only so far you can go to dress mutton up as a lamb.

  9. I always knew you were a closet JLS fan.

We could have former x-factor contestants singing between fights. Kill 2 bird with 1 stone. What you reckon colin?

I think they should in really big fights as it adds to0 the atmosphere. It's probably not realistic for small hall shows or even decent level boxing. The promoters should do a better job of promoting it, they seem to lack any form of imagination these days although I do admit its hard when there are 1 million weights and everybody is a world champion.

Sometimes it takes something outside of the sport to get you into the sport!
