Emanuel did have him standing taller and throwing a strong jab. His balance was a lot better as well. I think it was a good analysis.

I just said yesterday that Cotto was falling into the same stance as he did in the past in the Margarito II fight. Squared up, high guard, hands by his temples, with his head past his knee.

Diaz is training him on different things and has definitely helped with his overall fitness, but Miguel is certainly regressing in certain areas. May be a good thing or a very bad thing, we'll see May 5th.

Steward is still a kool-aid drinking jackass though.

Bogotzo should read this. Talk about delusional when it comes to fighter improvement.

Agree, Floyd's right hand is his best punch and he uses it well, just like Ali did. Cotto will be out of the fight by five if he stays back and tries to box with Mayweather. His only hope is to Victorize him in a corner. In the middle of the ring he's toast. I don't see it finishing.......TKO by the 10th.

I totally disagree that MSG was the same plan as the first Margarito fight. In the first fight, he hit and ran along the perimeter of the ring, and retreated to the ropes often. Cotto's back touched the ropes in only the last two rounds of the rematch, and he was still controlling the action even then. He controlled the center masterfully in a way he never had before. He planned on backing Margarito up, which was definitely a plan they used in spots, but staying inside the whole time just would have been more damaging. Pedro conditioned him for the intensity needed to do a variety of things beyond the fundamentals.

As far as the balance thing, he's right that Cotto has to maintain balance and make sure his elbows don't flair out, but at the same time, that doesn't mean he shouldn't rule out using a crouch on the inside. If Cotto thinks he should be the shorter man during certain exchanges and bend below Floyd's usual level of throwing, as long as he's not leaning into uppercut trajectory, he should be fine. Emmanuel fixed his balance and guard, but it will take more than just a jab to compete with Floyd Mayweather Jr. We'll see how he looks in time; Pedro has mentioned building on what his previous trainers have given them, so I think Steward's instructions won't be lost.

    Thanks for posting!

Get into a ring before you talk **** about boxing technique you idiot.

When did I say I favored Cotto to win? If top trainers always agreed, predictions would be much simpler and upsets wouldn't be upsets.
