True. But he was terrible again Moreno. Some really bad signs in that fight. Hate to suggest it on this forum, but it might be time for Vic to get stuck into MMA. He's already said a few times he interested in giving it a go.

A possible Vic Darchinyan switch to MMA is gaining momentum with both the UFC & Strikeforce interested in his signature >>>

VIC Darchinyan is being urged to make the switch to MMA after he was beaten by WBC world bantanweight champion Shinsuke Yamanaka in Tokyo.

Despite looking strong in the middle rounds - and fighting with legendary trainer Johnny Lewis in his corner - Darchinyan was eventually beaten on points, with comprehensive 117-111 scorecards for the hometown hero.

The Sydney fighter has hinted for some time that he would consider a switch to MMA, especially after the UFC recently created a new flyweight division.

It's understood Strikeforce will also now push to sign him after suffering his second straight boxing defeat.

Spurred by a large home crowd Yamanaka finished stronger than Darchinyan to reclaim his title after 12 rounds.

If Vic wants to continue his boxing career, he has to go back to basics.

He needs to win 3 or 4 in succession against lesser calibre opponents and work the rankings to secure a no.1 contender spot.

There's no money in that approach but it's the only way he can win another world title.

Taking title fights coming off disappointing losses is not the way to go.

MMA? Not a path I want to see him go down but likely to be more financially rewarding than the one I've outlined.

No, because he wouldn't win & losing to these guys is damaging his legacy.

If he wants to fight at the elite level and win another world title there are no quick fixes.

He needs to build back up to it by winning a series of fights and generating some momentum.

Whether he has the stomach for that approach at age 36 is questionable.

If he doesn't, he should give it away.

Haven't seen it yet, but doesn't sound good. I still remember how bad Vic looked against Moreno and thought he was gone then.

It probably makes more financial sense now than when he first expressed interest in MMA.

Many will feel at 36 he's too old to make the transition. But Vic's father was an Olympic wrestling coach, and Vic wrestled as a kid, no doubt learning from a very good teacher in his father. He's also included wrestling as cross-training throughout his boxing career.

So though he'd have to learn to kick and deal with opponents kicks, Vic ticks quite a few MMA boxes already :good

I think you will find that Vic's father was not only an Olympic Wrestling coach but specialized in Greco-roman wrestling just like Randy Couture and others who have been very successful standing against the cage .
