Who won the four man flyweight tournament to crown the first ever ufc flyweight champion? I was hoping that guy with the moustache was gonna take it:good
It aint finished yet, McCall drew with Johnson 1st time round, the winner takes on Benevides for the strap after Joe kodded Yasuhiro Urushitani
i think the flyweight division is a good thing for the ufc and mma in general as its still seen as bit of a sport for muscle bound lumps
yeah but ufc and mma has got this bad image with the general public due to the few idiots pumped on roids who do no more then bodybuilding training parading round there towns and cities in them tap out t-shirts staring out every tom dick and harry.
yeah me personally although i box i love mma and i know for a fact these sort of idiot really get up the nose of the true mixed martial artists.
Vic Darchinyan might have a bit to say in this division if he decides to make the transition. Big if that he'll even take on the challenge at this stage, but don't expect a Toney-like failure.
His rhythm would be completely stunted by Mighty Mouses speed and kicks IMO. Darchinyan is an awkward banger, but he'll be tentative against anyone varied enough IMO, especially when he's worried about guys shooting on him. He cuts to make 118 no doubt, but I'm not sure he'd walk around any more than 130. So he'd still be tiny. Rambaa would kick his arse. Make him at ONE FC I say. Both about the same age.
Agreed, but even well-prepared it doesn't mean he'll fare any better than Toney. It doesn't take a Couture level guy to beat a boxer either if they're not a complete ******. In fact, even if you are a complete ****** you can figure something out, hence why Mercer banged out Sylvia but was beat by Kimbo
Also, he's clearly faded. No guarantee he'll remain all that potent a puncher for much longer, he's looked out of sorts for a few fights, and has really since he left super fly. Lost to Agbeko, Mares, looked poor against journeyman Barcelona, more hittable than ever, and bar beating Gonzalez (who was obviously disinterested by that point) just hasn't looked his same self the last few years. Beaten clearly in his last two. He'll have a pickets chance in MMA I guess, but I doubt it'll be hugely significant just like it isn't in boxing at the moment. Take everything else into consideration and as much as I'd like to I can't get too excited at the prospect, sorry :good
