Disagree. Corrales was undefeated at the time and was considered one of the hardest punchers in the game. Marg was on the decline and had been badly exposed before he fought Pac. Now if Pac fought Marg soon after the Mexican stopped Cotto, I would be very impressed (assuming Pac wins).

    What's your timeframe then?

If we're talking from 2000 i'd say it's in the same class as the following.

    Hopkins v tito
    Pac v cotto
    Marquez v pac 1
    Donaire v montiel
    Calzaghe v lacy
    Jones v woods
    Mab v hamed
    Forrest v mosley 1
    Winky v tito

Probably a couple more I can't recall from the top of my head. These performances (including floyd v corrales) are truly elite showings.

You could probably split that list into two tiers depending on quality of opposition. Floyd would make the top tier.

That makes it a top ten lock. One of the best.

easily....not only because of the opponent but because of the level of beatdown that was laid on him. He ****ed up Chico worse than B-Hop did Tito or Slappy Joe did Lacy or Pac did Barrera or Barrera did Hamed. Outboxed him in every sense of the word and 5 KD's....just ridiculous, I was watching this live and losing my ****....before the fight I told my dad and bro that Mayweather is gonna be better than RJJ and DLH....afterwards they were in agreement.

How was Chico's mental state for the Fight? Ignore the facts all you like. Corrales mother would have stopped him that night.

people are getting "put on a boxing clinic" mixed with "put on an entertaining fight"

someone mentioned pac-cotto... that fight was FAR from a boxing clinic because pac was getting tagged way too much

To me, a "boxing clinic" is where one fighter totally dominates another fighter using technical skills, effective aggression, effective defense, ring generalship while taking very minimal damage....pretty much pitching a shutout.

    Mayweather vs Corrales
    Calzaghe vs Lacy
    Hopkins vs Pavlik
    Hopkins vs Tito
    Mayweather vs Gatti

Really? If thats the case then castillo should have ko corrales in the early rounds in the first fight but it took castillo 10th round to knockdown corrales? Freitas couldnt even badly hurt corrales.

For me a clinic is just a domination. It's a fighter using the skills he has to best of his ability to completely neutralise his opponent and dominate him.

I do prefer it when the defence is elite level but it's not completely necessary.

Not sure about Hamed-Barrera, yes Barrera won the fight but nothing lke the manner Floyd beat Chico in. That was utter domination.

Barrera beat Hamed in an 8-4 round type fight and never had Hamed down or hurt.

Like many have said, this or BHops-Tito..

But to me, the greatest display of technical skill shown by BOTH fighters in one fight this past decade would have to be Marquez-Barrera....But thats a diffrent thread.

Is that Ariza in Chico's corner at 1:54 of the vid? Doesn't look too cocky right there...

Floys win over chico was better than Hopkins win over tito. Floyd was outsized like hell against diego. Hopkins dominated a former welter. he made a career beating blown up fighters.
