The one punch stalker version of Iron Mike was basically living off of his reputation from the 1980's. In reality he stood too straight up,was quick to clinch or get frustrated, threw no combos and lost the bobbing and weaving after the first 30 seconds of round one but he still had the power. Best wins? I think winning the WBC championship from Frank Bruno was one. Mike stayed in there with that big mother****er. Showed ferocity and determination which was lacking by the time he got to Mcbride or Lewis. Also the KO punch that layed out prime Botha was sick although that was the only great shot Mike threw in that fight. Thoughts?
He was fighting a stiff in bruno by then as well, although he did what he needed to do. Dont think ive seen a man so terrified before a big fight as frank was that night.Much worse than the first fight strangely.
BUT what about Tinkerbell's 2X losses VS 34/35 year old past-primer Holyfield, loss to 36 year old past-primer Lenny Lewis, Danny "Domestic" Williams, And Bummy "Blobby Bumbaclot" MCbride??? Did they not HARM his legacy?? Especially them last 2 super duper embarrassing losses when he was a ghost in a shell. And what about not getting teh rematch with Bummy Douglas, is that not a black shadow of death on his legacy FOREVER??? Anyway, I have Midget Lisp @no.10. :smoke Foreman Hoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooook!:rasta
And what about Foremans losses VS Axel Schulz, Tommy Morrison, Evander Holyfield, Muhammed Ali and Jimmy Young??? Did they not HARM his legacy??
Not getting a rematch with douglas harms his legacy yeah. Every other loss is past prime so I don't hold it against him.
Mmmmmmmmmm Tinkerbell Tyson in Round 1-5 And Round 10 VS Holyfield looked way BETTER then in ANY ROUND VS Bummy Douglas. AND Tinkerbell looked BETTER in Round 1 VS Lenny Lewis, then in ANY ROUND VS Bummy Douglas. SO give me your "prime" obsession all you you want, But sometimes prime in not definitive be all And end all. Like OG Holyfield was BETTER looking in 1996 VS Tyson And in 1997 in Moorer 2 as a past-prime souljah, then in 1991 VS Bert Cooper And in 1993 VS Alex "Stewarty" Stewart. And what about Lenny Lewis?? He looked way BETTER as a ageing past-primer VS Rahman 2 in 2001 And Tyson in 2002, then as a prime man in 1998 VS Mavrorvric And 1997 VS Akinwende. deal Foreman Hooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooook!:rasta
Kinda surprised at so many Bruce Seldon omissions. He was no world beater but he had a good record and some solid wins when Tyson fought him. Yes, he lost in the first round but he was clearly trying to win.
of course he can look good after his prime, the man was a great fighter. still, any losses not incurred between 86-91 I do not hold against him lufcrazy Hoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooook
