Actually a win against an awkward customer like chop chop might do mccloskey good. Decent fight IMO and considering he's a replacement its a good one :bbb

If beaten Saturday then i agree 100 percent, but Paul has not being prepared for his last couple through a couple of personal demons, but like the fighter he is he seems to have put these behind him so maybe we will get a true reflection of exactly what he has left at the weekend, either way i remember and will always remember him boxing in the stadium with complete awe.

sorry i thought he was serious ha ! but no not a bit dodgy i heard directly from 2 different boxers over there the young lad took an awful beating in two spars from a 56kg and a 60kg lad! he said he wasnt right and just wanted to go home cos he was a bit homesick too! thats the story i heard from a reliable source and i believe it too! i was talking to his club coach at the youth finals a few weeks back and he had nothing to say about it too! mcDonaghs a great talent maybe his head just isnt right for senior international boxing at the moment !

Are you serious? Parris, ffs? I don't know how, but he'd find a way to score the fight for sexton. Agree with slap that the bui has to be a 32 county organization. The bbboc might have jurisdiction in Belfast, but this is an Irish affair and should be a bui event. Dave parris shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the odyssey.

I'm trying to see the BBB of C point of view in this situation but it's difficult. They have never rated Irvine, hence his departure to the BUI, but I can imagine grumblings from certain British referees when Irvines name was mentioned for this high profile gig on terrestrial TV:verysad, envy would have played as much a part in this as anything else. I've heard nasty stories about these Brit referees behind closed doors.
I never realised until recently the BUI wasn't 32 county, just assumed like IABA, Rugby, GAA etc etc it was [although I knew the BBB of C had jurisdiction also with licencing boxers and officals], this is the first time a major disput has occurred concerning these issues. When Peters was running Irish title fights in the north, the BBB of C took nothing to do with it, but were happy to supply referees and officals when called upon but in this instance it's one of their promoters running a show on British TV, so they are flexing their muscle and leaving the BUI with no option but to withdraw their title.
In the future I'm all for the BUI and BBBofC working closer togather in terms of the Celtic titles and so forth but they should do it as equal partners, not as the BUI being the "poor relations" in the arrangement. It's a complex issue and one that needs to be sorted out for future high profile Irish title fights on British TV, otherwise it will be Irish boxing that will suffer for it.

I'm hearing he's boxing Robin Deakin
