Anyone have fighters that are generally well liked or highly regarded, but have just never clicked with you?.

Maybe it's a great fighter you feel you should have watched more or be more appreciative of considering the styles of fighters you like, but for some reason just can't get into.Maybe it's a whole weightclass or era of boxing etc..

    I'd say for me...

as far as old-timers which need a decent bit of research to truly appreciate....Gene Tunney and Joe Gans.

There is just something about them which doesn't grab my attention.More so Tunney.I doubt i'll ever be able to will myself to put in the kind of research for them i've done for others of the same relative time period.

For a modern pick, there's Mayweather. It's not much to do with his talent or style, but more his career choices after the Castillo fights.I was a fan at 130 and would like to have seen him lock down 135 for a while, only moving up for a genuinely worthy challenge.instead we got a mostly safety-first, low activity for biggest money schedule above that, which just reeked of coasting and thinking he was bigger than the sport.

And as far as fighters i don't seem to rate as highly as many, i'd go with the modern Mexican trio of Morales\MAB and Marquez, though it's just a case of slight degrees, they're all excellent fighters who've given us numerous great fights.

Or Michael Spinks, who was definitely a great fighter, i just don't think he quite achieved as much at 175 as some do.Not in comparison to the likes of Charles, Loughran, Moore or even Harold Johnson or Galindez.

And the 30s middle scene.UNdeniably dozens of good fighters and considerable depth, but i'm not that high on the era at the top end.I've seen a lot of props handed out to guys like Apostoli, Thil, McAvoy, Gorrila jones, Brouillard on here over the past couple of years that i can't say is underserved, but don't agree entirely with either.I've seen a good bit of the era and there were too many slop filled fights between these guys for my liking.I remain to be convinced of greatness in most of them.

Really, anything pre-20's for me. It's just such a different kettle of fish that to me it almost doesn't even resemble what I know as boxing. I just can't identify with it for some reason.

Rocky Marciano is another. I respect him very much, but I'm not a fan.

Roberto Duran is another, but maybe it's because he's talked about to death and that wears on me or something. Not sure.

And any modern day fighters except the Marquez brothers and Izzy Vasquez. Apart from them, zero interest in the modern game.

I will get around to that soon. My old uncle left me a box of reels of his fights.

Ali, Jones, Leonard, Whitaker...actively dislike those. Generally have no interest in anybody that competed in the Olympics beyond always wanting them to lose.

Pernell Whitaker . He was great but he never bear Ramirez . It took me lots of time until i watched him fight and when i did (2 different fights) i understood how correct i was from judging him by his record and more so , avoiding watching him because of his record . it's possible i will watch more of him , but there r many other fights i long 2 watch but can't get .
Oscar DeLaHoya maybe another . i haven't seen much of him . i only watched him vs Trinidad :dead , Pacquiao , Hopkins , Campas , Vargas and i think a few more , but nothing special 2 say or remember about him , nothing interesting . but i guess in a way i got interested in him , but then got disinterested in him . I also don't doubt d greatness of a small majority of fighters from d B&W era , but can't get a sufficient amount of entire fights of them in their telling fights , so i m interested , but can't know enough about them . But that doesn't mean that every man filmed or photoed or documented somehow in d B&W era was a great or even good at all . Many amateurs 2day know how 2 throw a punch , so did Max Schmelling .

I watched some John Conteh only after he was mentioned many times here......then I watched out of curiosity....but never interested me as well....

Not a generation that got my interest outside Galindez.....

I watched Saad vs Kates some time ago because it was mentioned here too....but most of these guys was more by curiosity than really interest !
