”Pavlik told one boxing outlet that he plans to make Sigmon “eat through a straw”

“I guess he upset Top Rank and Cameron [Dunkin, Pavlik’s co-manager] pretty good,” Pavlik said. “I will tip my hat to him — he did a helluva job self-promoting. Nobody would have heard of him without that. At the same time, some of the things he said really upset me.
“It’s one thing to say you think I ducked you or that I’m a coward. But he turned it to a personal level. Mark my words — this is one of the biggest fights I’ve ever wanted.

    Really disappointed in Pavlik.

Jaco was his easy night. This is bull****. Can't believe SS was able to talk his way into this. Waste of time for Kelly. :-(

I'm sure Pavlik has eaten many a liquid lunch through a straw.

Article says he is going to fight again in August or September so I guess they aren't lining up anything too stiff yet. I'm a little disappointed myself. IF Kelly is truly upset by this kid maybe it the kind of fight he needs to get his attitude back. Get in with a purpose rather than just going rounds.

Are you implying he's a patron of girly cocktails with little umbrellas and fruit garnishes, rather than an imbiber of whatever manly potables they've got on hand in Youngstown? (beer, Maker's Mark neat, uh...moonshine?) :bart

Anything to keep him busy, in the gym and fighting is a good thing. Hopefully, this fight will be televised.

It's good Kelly is even seriously training and in the ring fighting
anybody. There's nothing at 168 in the way of big fights as
anyone who's anybody at SMW has fights lined up for the 1st
half of 2012, and some have the whole year tied up. Kelly would
be on the couch if he weren't fighting these stay busy fights.
Also, he looked bored and complacent against Jaco, so maybe this
Sigmon kid firing him up will get him closer to old form to be more
ready when he steps it up.

If he is planning on being back in he ring in late August or early September I wouldn't look for too big a step after this one though. I wonder if this is an indication that they are working on his style more than we realize and want some rounds with that before he goes up much further in competition level? :think

I think that was just a clumsy sentence. Usually Kelly doesn't get into the ring with a grudge so I think he meant it in that context. Just a fight where he REALLY wanted to go in and give someone a beating for personal reasons.

I'm glad Kelly is remaining active... he needs to fight these kind'a fights to get his confidence than start fighting for a title in 2013. He needs to avoid Ward though

Kelly is in recovery. Idle time and effective recovery don't typically go hand in hand. Giving him a daily schedule and goal, with a short to medium lenght goal on the horizon, can really help him.
