Laila Ali would have had the best chance of beating a male...

Anne Wolfe is extremely over-rated in ESB, due to a couple snippets of her KO'ing an opponent or two. Other than that, most posters dont even know how good her boxing abilities truly are. Lets say, they weren't impressive. Her only saving grace was her power.

I would compare the two to Authur Abraham as a middleweight, and Carl Froch. Wolfe was AA of the women's SuperMids, but Ali was Froch. She was much more diversified and skilled, plus power, speed, and fighting will. We know what happened between AA & Froch...

How is that even possible? I guess there are like a handful of girls that can live off the sport in each weight class?

Women's boxing is going to be in the (London) Olympics for the first time. I'm cautiously optimistic about seeing some good matches.

    There are currently:

    19 active heavyweights.
    No active cruiserweights
    No active light heavyweights.
    7 active super middleweights.
    19 active middleweights.
    22 active light middleweights.

Now, compare to 147 and below and (as you'd expect) the female representation starts to increase...

    42 active welterweights.
    73 active light welterweights.
    71 active lightweights.
    74 active super featherweights.
    117 active featherweights.
    73 active super bantamweights.
    119 active bantamweights.
    85 active super flyweights.
    131 active flyweights.
    96 active light flyweights.
    98 active strawweights.

From junior middle to heavy there are an average of 11 gals per division. From welter through straw an average of 89.

You thought that poorly of both wolfe and Ali?

I would say Wolfe would be comparable to Froch (with more power) and Ali to Ward

4 time NYC Golden Gloves champ. Puerto Rican from manhattan 112-119lber. #1 ranked in the US. She completely dominates.

Future and last hope for female boxing. I've never seen a female boxer with that kind of footwork and male-like fluidity before. Complete slickster. It seems like all of her fights are easy boxing lessons. For 112lbs she gets crazy leverage on her shots. Beautiful body work.

Wolfe with more power than froch? Are you a fetish nut?
That's not possible even though Anne is androginous.
I'm sure if Froch had've connected on vonda ward like
that then she would've been dead.

Female boxing is capable of producing fun, competitive contests from time to time. For example, the Zamora-Bautista clash from about a month and a half ago that was shown on wbctv was really entertaining and filled with nasty exchanges. If you take it for what it is, woman's boxing can make for entertaining viewing.
