And Abril was not a great fighter. So Rios definetly has some guys who will give him style problems. Anyone who fights him from now on will study that fight.

remember how I told you about a month ago that Abril stands a very good chance and will be Rios 2nd best opponent to date and muther****ers shat on the notion on the basis that Acosta was just shot? dummies thought Rios was a prime Vargas

pretty much, Rios is not relentless in his pressure like a katsidis who will go face forward no matter what.. Rios can be reset...

NOr does he have the speed of a DIAZ and a lot of agressive pressure with combos..

Rios is all Power, and walking down... and can easily be outboxed...

I've said it many times... RIos is not an awesome fight for MARQUEZ it gives MARQUEZ no RESUME advantage...

I rather him take, Peterson-Khan winner... bradley, pacqiao or morales... career enhancers... unless RIOS gets a belt and establishes himself at 140 no point in TAKING HIM OUT>

I said it earlier in the RBR... would be a dream fight with a lot of action... we need RIOS for ACTION fights... not to be an ELITE which I doubt he can become...

JMM feast on aggressive fighter. Also with Rios coming up in weight I don't see any chance in him beating JMM. Rios has always had a weight advantage at 135.

Alvarado vs Herrera? was a classic!

    Marquez showed his great skill

Abril got a late April fools joke

damn Rios looked terrible, specially in the last rounds, guessing it was Abril's style plus the weight issues, dude should move up, fight Maidana and Ortiz, those would be great battles.

same here I've broken down that fight IMO in countless threads.

it doesn't end well for RIOS, he can easily be outboxed and reset. he is not a constant plodder like Kats. or speed combo pressure like DIAZ... he relies on power and size...

Sorry if I came off a bit harsh. I only saw the last part of the Rios/Abril fight and the first part of the Marquez fight so, unlike many on ESB who simply take other posters word for events, I can't comment on the fight. IB's RBR's do good when they break 1K posts in general. I was just using your post as a hook to see where this one stood but IB is busy doing another RBR at the moment.

It's hard to tell how much the weight affected Rios tonight and how much of a factor it was. It could have been a huge factor and we can expect to see him hit a lot harder at 140 I think.

Some people actually accused Marquez of ducking Rios

Rios has other potential classic battles vs Maidana, Petterson, Matthysse, Khan, Soto, Vasquez at 140, and vs Ortiz at 147. Same with Marquez besides Ortiz at 147, Marquez should stay at 140.

Now imo Rios would have done much much better vs Gamboa, Gamboa is no Abril defensively and style wise.

I honestly didn't remember ever seeing the guy fight before but wondered how good he was given his back ground. That and the fight Gamboa seemed so eager to jump two weight classes for this fight.
