Reading through this forum, all I seem to hear about is british glass (and polish glass, but I guess that's a different discussion). Being a patriotic brit, I find this deeply upsetting. So could someone tell me about British fighters with good chins for a change?
Froch is the only durable guy you have on the World level right now. I hate to tell you this, but the Chincheckers have done an in-depth study that has revealed 95.8% of Britons to be in possession of a Glass Jaw.
All time? Jack 'Kid' Berg, John Conteh, Ken Buchanan, Joe Calzaghe, Benny Lynch, Bob Fitzsimmons, Jimmy Wilde, Chris Eubank, Clinton Woods etc.. Active fighters? Carl Froch, Ricky Burns, Nathan Cleverly, Ola Afolabi, Dereck Chisora, Matthew Hatton, Gavin Rees, Ashley Theophane, Rendall Munroe, Junior Witter, John Simpson, Scott Harrison etc..
Ricky Burns has a good chin. The knockdown against Martinez was a blip in the first round but shouldn't discount how tough he is.
At the moment, Froch and Ricky Burns are the only two I can think of on the world stage; Cleverly is pretty untested but I wouldn't be surprised if Kell Brook ends up in some really tough scraps at world title level. Fury went down a bit too easily for my liking not so long ago, so I'd love to see him fight David Price, that'd be a good test for both fighters.
