Is Rios-Abril the blueprint for Pacquiao beating Floyd?

Yes, we know that Abril won the event. And we also know that he dominated in the eyes of most.

But officially Rios won the fight. And it seems to be highlighting something of a pattern in recent years, where the slickster makes his opponent miss and look silly all night, but end up losing because he's "penalized" for relying on counters, clinches, and backward movement.

It makes me wonder if this judging pattern is something that will benefit Pacquiao should he ever fight Floyd. It's benefited Pacquiao himself in the past, in his last fight where he was countered all night long by Marquez, but still won the decision because judges overemphasized aggression and activity.

Floyd has been on the opposite end of that equation, dominating De la Hoya in the eyes of most observers, and only having a split decision win to show for it.

Most of us see Floyd as being the solid favourite to win should he ever meet Pacquiao, but are we considering this x factor? Do you think Floyd's low punch output and defensive style will end up winning the fight...yet losing the decision against Pacquiao, like what we saw last night?

The only ****ing blueprint is Arum paying off the judges. If I was Floyd, I wouldn't take a fight against anyone from TR. Arum king of screwjobs

I think you post here to answer the question, not place another agenda.

Floyd potshots Manny early, opens up with combos and stops him late, there would be no need for judges, also there will be no Pacquiao vs Mayweather, Timothy is gonna spank Manny's ass...

not at all, seriously, not at all. the judges would never rob floyd because of his fighting style. they never have and they never will. it would be the biggest tragedy for boxing. mayweather's fights are literally on the world's stage. a fight with pacquiao would be on an even bigger stage. a robbery either way would ruin what reputation boxing has in the eyes of millions of people.

Not a robbery so to speak

but if Floyd was countering him and boxing brilliantly but Manny still threw at a high out put and kept coming then maybe this out come is possible

judges on punch out put alone and busier guys

i think Floyd has the ability to dominate to the point where the punch out put falls and its obvious who wins

Putting "robbery" aside, I think it is unfair to compare Pac with Rios. Rios was bland, slow and clueless last night. Pac was never like that and he always keeps on trying even at the last moment.

Mayweather is great at landing clean, crisp shots that are easy for the judges to see. He also makes it very tough for an opponent to land clean on him. Look at the scorecards in all of his fights, the Oscar fight was really the only one where the scores were close. If you rely on negative tactics, it might be difficult for a judge to score your fights. However, when your landing clean, accurated shots, and your opponent is struggling to land clean, it makes the judges job a lot easier.

Judges favouring aggression over counterpunching, was NOT the case last night.

Judges favouring the guy that they've been told must win, was.

I really struggle to see Floyd Mayweather being robbed at this point of his career, if that's what the thread is implying.
