Why did Tyson take this fight? He didn't go after Holyfield at all. He was far less aggressive than he was in the first fight when he nearly flattened Holyfield with the first punch. What was the point of his cautious strategy? Did he really think he could wear down someone as tough as Evander Holyfield? I think his best chance was to end it early as Holyfield had been known to be a slow starter. A cautious strategy against Holyfield allows Evander to get away with his cold streaks. I am guessing he didn't really care about winning at that point and just wanted another pay day without getting hurt. It is a shame because the post 99 Holyfield was very beatable for Tyson had he a stronger effort at a post 99 comeback. Also, Tyson-Holyfield 3 would have broke records for ratings and money.

But yeah my post was in response to the op's question. I ain't seen it in a while but i'm sure Tyson was looking like he was getting into the fight at that point.

At the end of the day he took the easy way out so it's by the by. I suppose the better answer woulda been to say MONEY!

Very True, but Tyson wasn't exactly a clean fighter either. He had been known to hit after the bell, through elbows, arm lock. I agree though, the guy who beats Tyson is the guy who is going to hold, grab, foul, headbutt; anything that is going to keep the heat off of them.

Tyson was also to blame for some of the butting during the first fight.

Tyson seemed to have much more confidence in the first fight, although he was more physically prepared for the second match up. He looked great in the third round before the bite...he caught holyfield with some heavy shots and had flashes of him former self. The first fight he just didnt throw punches in bunches but landed some good shots just to few and far between
