Alot of similarities between these 2 G;s Both fight using the sholder roll defence. Arguably Abril is better in the pocket, as Rios would launch about 50 shots and none would land. But Floyd is better from a distance due to his faster footwork. Yes floyd counters better, but this thread is putely about defence. Tough one :think
No it's not, Anthony. Abril was ace, and his shoulder roll and turning to the side was done better than most, but Floyd's the master at it. Noone comes close to him at doing it.
Abril just went 12 rounds with the number 1 light weigh in the world. Rios will have weighed 150 in the ring. Rios through 1000 punches and i barely remembering landing once. ATG Defence. A few lessons in counterpunching and he'll be a true future G
I think i need to make one of these for Abril too. I'd only need to use the rios fight although i'm sure if i researched it i'd find more gems.
Research it then, your post makes it seem as if you've only seen him fight once, in which case you are jumping to conclusions.
I have only seen him once. but it was against the most feared man at lightweight who threw 1000 punches at him and never marked his face.
it was an impressive defensive effort, but don't get carried away. Half of it was achieved by locking Rios's arms. What Floyd is doing in that video is on another plane. It's a different category.
