I'm seriously astonished at the idiocy surrounding Rios, dude gets spoiled and made to look bad in one fight now he can't beat anybody. I wish I had kept a log of all the cats that "can beat Rios" now. The ****ed up thing about it is not 1 of the fighters thrown out to "beat Rios" fights ANYTHING like Abril. So Ortiz quits against Maidana, gets put in Floyd's dungeon (butt naked) but he beats Rios. Cool gucking story...parden me for not being a prisoner of the moment here. Oh and if nothing else the kid has a chin...he isn't getting KO'd in1 by anybody even close to his weight.

So what "facts" are you using to Correlate his performance against a tall, rangy, spoiling fighter to a projected performance against shorter, fighters who tend to exchange and have suspect defense on the inside and underwhelming jabs? You think Marquez is going to run and hold the entire fight...better yet any of the fight? I'm not saying he beats JMM, I'm saying the Abril fight means nothing relative to a Marquez fight and definitely a Gambia fight.

Does anyone else think Ortiz is looking a bit chunky considering his fight is in a month.

I really want to see these two fight, but Ortiz better keep his attention on Berto at the moment.

On Saturday night, Rios looks like he was not capable of winning against a slick boxer, but for anyone to say that means Victor Ortiz would stop him in one. This does not make sense. If Ortiz tries to knock him out, that is what Rios wants. a brawl.

It's not totally admissable to say that based on saturday's fight, Rios would lose to Ortiz. Rios fights one way, and cannot adjust but it wasn't ever a huge issue because he was a very big lightweight. Ortiz can box (not greatly, but he can) with average to good speed, and I'd bet anything he punches harder than Rios. All these advantages before even discussing quality of opposition (which Ortiz clearly has fought and beaten much better fighters). Ko in 1 is an erratic response to Saturday, KO in 8 is more acceptable

I don't understand why all the hate towards Victor. His comments are twisted by you guys' standards, it seems.
Sure, he's not the most articulate boxer out there. And his youth and inexperienced outlook on life often overshadows the points he tries to get across. But he seems to be enjoying the ride he's worked for. He's more than good enough for the what we really want to see from him.
Interview after interview, I get the feeling he's just very shy and when put under the spot light, he doesn't know how to react naturally. He's not a natural entertainer like Mayweather or Paulie Malignaggi (he always cracks me up). Ortiz still has a kid mentality and doesn't seem to be in a hurry to grow up.
I give nothing but kudos to the guy :tong (aside from his last fight)

It wouldn't happen in one, but Ortiz would knock Rios out. Ortiz moved up to WW and in his 1st performance parked a heavy hitting Berto on his ass twice in 6 rounds. Rios coming up from LW and having not faced a big puncher like Victor plays directly into my reasoning.
