Considering Froch has a terrific chin and Bute's mythical power seems less impressive when he is fighting better competition, you better hope for a decision.

Making Johnson gunshy after a big left to the body in the 1st, 3 KD's on Magee and a one punch KO of hard chinned Andrade... there's also Cloud who went the distance with Zuniga, Bute downing him early with a shot to the solar plexus.

I see Bute capable of scoring one or two KD's on Froch, so I'm glad most of us consider his chin 'terrific'. On the prediction side, I have to go with an 8-9 rounds to 4-3 in Bute's favor, where Bute lands the cleaner AND harder punches.

"The Myth" happens on May 26th, in a theater near you.

I have a strategy. It's ingenious. Ward could outbox in the beginning, in the middle, and at the end!

And very likely he could. The thing is with Bute, is that he isn't that hard to hit. See Magee. See Andrade.

Ward, on the other hand, is far, far harder to hit. Far more elusive. And Bute is going to have a very hard time boxing him like he did slow Magee and slower Andrade.

If Bika was able to find Ward, Bute can do it. Ward will touch Bute but in order to do it, he'll have to put himself in the danger zone. Will he be fast enough to get out without being hit? For me, it's one of the keys of the fight.

Glen Johnson did not fight his usual fight against Bute. He felt the pain of the left to the body and fought on the back foot for the rest of the fight. Can Bute make Ward think? That is another key.

That is a tough fight to predict. I can see both men win in many ways.

I agree with your main point about what the fight essentially boils down to.

I somewhat disagree about Bika finding Ward. He did so very rarely. And Ward is not going to fight Bute for 12 rounds in close quarters.

I'm also not sure about what exactly Glen Johnson was up to. You might have seen one of the FightCamp episodes where Lucian visits GJ in his dressing room before the Froch fight. GJ is thrilled at the visit and says with a great deal of warmth "Lucian!"

Ward don't have all the belts. He's got 2, Bute's got 1, and Steiglitz has the other.

And the 2 fight deal is no more. There is a rematch clause for sure, especially with the Champ travelling, but odds are that Lucian won't leave it to the ref or the judges.

But I don't think Froch gets a second shot if he's doing his post fight presser conference from a dialysis machine.:D

He did fade a little in the Super Six final towards the end so Bute could take advantage of that if it happens again. And perhaps Bute is not that hard to hit but with Ward maybe he doesn't need to worry that much about being hit and instead concentrate on landing some solid punches and end the fight early.

no doubt about it, Bute needs to land something thunderous. Easier said than done.

I'm aware that's easier said than done. Bute himself said that he cannot plan a KO. All I'm saying is, based on the stats so far, that is a distinct possibility.

Yes, in theory he could. But this has not been yest tested with positive results in the ring, while a practical winning strategy against Froch has been proven effective. That's the clue point of the blueprint story. At present, Bute is still a higher potential risk fight for Ward.

That might be true to some debatable extent (I won't open another conversation about the issue), but keep into account Bute was not very bothered by the throws they successfuly landed on him and Ward doesn't have a tremendous punching power. In order to hit Bute with effectiveness, Ward should find himself in the dangerous zone for a non-vanishing amount of time, as it has already pointed out, and he should be vulnerable to Bute's (not only) body shots (keep in mind that Bute basically fights on counters, he's good at punishing fighters who attack him too close, so there is a non-neglectable fair possibility to adjust his own timings to hit Ward when near him). Would a "hit-and-run" based strategy be enough for Ward to win against a hard punching southpaw like Bute which turns out to be arguably faster than Froch?! The only real decent answer can be given only in the ring: that's what boxing is about. And Ward knows it.

When Bute was available to fight, where was SOB? SOB made it very clear that he did not want to fight Bute, not before the tournament, not during the tournament and not after the tournament. Ward will only fight on his home turf. Ward is very angry that EPIX is showing the Bute/Froch fight, as Showtime boycotted it, but SOB can't do anything about EPIX showing the fight. I am very thankful for EPIX, they also show the best fighters in the world today, The Klitschkos, who can beat anyone in any weight division. Klitschkos would smash Void easily.
