As far as pure BJJ goes Rickson was the ****, but the main knock on him as far as mma goes is that he never even fought the best competition out there while he was competing.

Rickson never fought an MMA bout as we know it in his life. Limited rules, no time limits, best man wins

he is like those old kung fu masters, knows everything he can beat everyone, except that there is no such thing as a master who is unbeatable, regardless of how skilled or strong they are. he never lost, but did he ever compete against the absolute best? could he have beaten olympic caliber wrestlers with submisson defense knowledge? what about the top sambo players? he is a pioneer in mma but that's about all we can say.

Went to his seminar a few weeks ago at Torrance Gracie.

It was a trip watching him line up black belt after black belt and having his way with em, starting from various positions. One part of the seminar he started from bottom side control and called BB after BB to hold him down. I think the longest he was on his back was 2 seconds.

Always heard about it and saw it on vids, but seeing it in person was flat out ****ing amazing. His movement and timing is unbelievable. Several of the BB's were accomplished competitors and a few MMA fighters. When Rickson put it on em, you can just see from their body language and facial expressions how much pressure they were under and they would just wilt down. It wasn't even funny.

Absorbed EVERY word he said and putting to practice some of the moves he showed with MUCH success.

The Jiu Jitsu he is doing is on another level.

Yea, when I met Royce, I asked him personally about Rickson and all he did was look down and kinda laugh....took a second and said Rickson was the only one who made him feel like a helpless little girl on the mat.
