A negative type playing keep away runnin moving holding and punching very little think Mora, Cory Spinks
A boring fighter is someone who fights safe / takes minimal risks even when there are opportunities or little danger present. It has nothin to do with 'skill' or casual fans. There are plenty of skilled fighters throughout history who were very exciting. Some fighters just dont have the mentality or killer instinct to make it an exciting fight to watch.
And some viewers lack the patience and mentality to observe a pure chess like boxing match. What are your views on Hopkins-Dawson 2?
IMO if you respect the game, than you can appreciate the different styles and tactics that are employed by various fighters. That being said I prefer to watch a chess match between two pure boxers over a course of twelve, but I won't criticize a brawler as long as some level of skill is present.
As long as it's competitive, if it's a competitive tactical match like Morales vs Barrera 2, it's all good, the most boring fights imo, are fights were a fighter is completely over matched, and one fighter becomes a punching bag, the most entertaining fights are the competitive ones, any kind, but a skilled back and forth battle like Barrera vs Morales 1, 3, Pac vs Marquez 1, 2, and the Marquez vs Vasquez 1, 2, 3, are my favorite type of fights to watch. Best if they last the 12 rounds.
True, it also has a lot to do with fighters playing it safe, when they can simply end the fight, or at least try to end it.
there's a difference between being a slick skilled boxer and being one that employs negative spoiling tactics. the former (mayweather, pep, whitaker, dawson, jmm to an extent) is my favorite type of fighter to watch the later (the Abrils, Wards, B-Hops, Molina's) can be frustrating to watch for sure but I still enjoy watching them neutralize other fighters using ring smarts...I get why people don't like watching them though. People need to learn to differentiate....not all slick/skilled boxers use spoiling tactics, it's as if ESB haters have lumped them all together to the point where a slick fighter gets labeled boring even if he's putting on clinics wihtout stinking up the joint.
