tried them a long while ago-lonsdale (when it was the old lonsdale) didn't like them you feel like your punching into steel rods,thru the padding,which in essence you are,as there the weights in the fists of the gloves. i found it better using a heavier sparring glove-top ten used to do a 20 oz. but serious fitness.co.uk do a 24oz glove sparring.looks good,not tried them myself though.

 

they make weighted gloves with the weights in the fists? that's absolutely ******ed. I have a set of weighted Title bag gloves and the weights stay in the wrists with the gloves themselves being 16 oz.

 

yeah,the old 1990's style lonsdale weigted bag gloves did,they zipped in,the zip been on the wrist but the rods went into the back of hand part of glove,the padding inside was pretty thick but you could still feel the impact of the metal thru the padding thru the foam and the leather inside,they were a lousy design,the metal weights didnt go all the way down to the curve of the glove,but where the curve was it was pretty much weighted along back of hand before where fingers curve. cheers

I recently purchased the Ringside IMF Tech bag gloves for training... Now these are my first bag gloves and I can say that they are hurting my right hand knuckles decently. They're pretty stiff internally. Now my inquiry pertains to the Lonsdale I-Core Super Pro Bag Gloves... Has anyone purchased these in the past? Tried them? Any advice on them?

Could anyone please recommend me a good pair of bag gloves? I'm willing to 'invest', as I did with my £70-80 sparring gloves, so long as it's not ridiculous like 'Winning' at £200+ or 'Grant Super Bag Gloves' at £189.

What happened to the Grant Campeon range?

I'm not such a fan of the visual design of the Rivals either, as I prefer a more traditional and less modern/tech look.

Okay so im in japan currently training for boxing and EVERYONE i mean EVERYONE swears by winning gloves. They're made in japan so its natural that all japanese love them. The quality is amazing, but they are ridiculously expensive. They say i'll never have to replace a pair of gloves or headgear again but the headgear alone is like 260 and the gloves are close to 300 so in total thats like $600 for a pair of gloves and headgear. I actually bought the head gear took it home didnt even open the bag and I was like did I just spend $260?! I returned it in the bag untouched lol my boxing coach says if you can afford them they're the finest on the market but are they worth it?! Please i'd like feedback on this!

 

I like Winning gear, but thought I'd try a cheaper route first and try my luck with it.

Got some Twins 14oz training gloves and Pretorian headgear, all for about US$100.

Hands aren't broken and I'm not ******ed yet, so I think I got a good deal.

Im thinking of buying 10 oz glove just for bag and pads. You guys think its worth it?

I went mid range and got the top Rival equipment. 16 oz long cuff lace up pro sparing $ 130. The elite Rival bag gloves 14 oz $ 90. And for head gear I bought Rival d3o intel-shock pro training head gear. $ 130
Some might not like the flashy look but Pascal wears them to fight in so they pass. I'm very happy with the feel and lightness of the head gear. Of course I'd rather have Winning but these will have to do for an intermediate.

 

Having used gear from virtually every maker I can say without a doubt Winning is by far the best available.

 

I dont think this newer model offers very good nose protection unless your nose is small/flat.

Imo the bar is just a little bit too low and a stiff jab will hurt your nose like a mother****er.

Also if i tighten it up from the top and the bar sets higher the chin strap is no longer under the chin, its on the tip of your chin i dont like it.

Would love to hear opinions from people who had the newer facesaver model from Cleto Reyes vs Winning FG-5000 and is there a real difference how the bar protects your face/nose.

So this is my second headgear and honestly, the last headgear i got i gave it away to my brother. This headgear provides so much protection to the nose, it's also very well padded. I remember taking a few shots in sparring that never seemed to hurt. I honestly don't mind getting hit with punches in this. The sting of the punches is definently gone. Your ears are very well protected as you can see from the pictures. This headgear is very compact and does not leave alot of room for any movement around your head. You can take multiple punches and the headgear will barely move, i don't find myself ad******g this headgear often or at all acually. I was able to slip punches well, the bar wasn't too low or too high. There isn't much else to say about this headgear other than this is a top headgear.

So the differences in my opinion are that, the vision on the white headgear is a bit more obstructed but not by much, i can practically see everything still. While the wide version has better vision with in return for the bar being lower. The ear padding is much different. I found taking hooks in sparring when you get hit with black headgear you'll find yourself hearing a loud smack and it really shaking you up. Not only that the headgear will move a bit, probably due to my head being a bit smaller. Now taking a hook to the white headgear, i think that since the ear padding isn't blended with the rest of the headgear the shock absorbtion really feels less spread but at the same time does not hurt as much. I acually did not feel much when getting hit. Another big difference is that the white one is much more compact with the more padding around the important areas and some areas around the ear padding with no padding because boxing gloves will most likely hit the ear padding than any of those areas. Nose protection i give the white headgear the better rating because the bar is higher up to where my nose is exactly while the wide style has a bigger space and i found the glove touching the nose sometimes when taking some punches in sparring. The white headgear weighs less about 1lb less. Not only that, when taking punches the white headgear will almost never move while the black headgear will move often but little when hit on the bar.


Overall I have to say the white headgear is the much better headgear for those reasons.

Both headgears are great but for the same price. If you had trouble choosing like me then the Old steel bar style is the best choice! Especially if you have the smaller head. Another small thing to add is that you can fold the white headgear unlike the black one and will fit much better in your bag!


Older one is much better!
