Khan plans to emulate Mayweather & Pacquiao in his fight against Peterson.

Amir Khan has admitted he got "too brave" during his first meeting with Lamont Peterson, and is vowing to go back to basics when they clash for a second time during May.

Khan surrendered the WBA and IBF light-welterweight straps to Peterson last December in controversial circumstances, having been deducted two points for pushing. In the aftermath, the saga of the 'Mystery Man' at ringside erupt ed, adding to Khan's frustration.

Although Khan feels the referee's performance was sub-par, he concedes he made a few technical mistakes in the bout - and is vowing not to repeat those errors.

"I think we got too brave. I think the best thing we do now is to go back to what we do best," Khan told fighthype.com. "I mean, look at the likes of Mayweather, Pacquiao - they always stick to what they know best and that's where they get their success from."

Meanwhile, Khan believes that Peterson has been changed forever because of the punishment he took on that night in Washington DC. "That's the best ever performance he put on, so for him to do another one like that, I can't see him doing that because I still think it took a lot out of him, the last fight, and we did take a lot out of him with the punishment he took in our last fight. He will never be the same fighter again," Khan said.

"I now know he can't hurt me. He's not got the punching power to knock me out, so I really think that's on my side, and I know I've got the power to hurt him."
