I dont know why you think the 80's were bad. I would say the entire current crop has no fire. I would also say the 80's was a very good group of solid fighters, with a good mix of boxers and guys who could mix it up a bit. The 90's started getting worse leading up to todays garbage. Today there is noone who can fight, and the boxers that get forced into a fight either quit or get knocked around the ring one sidedly.

The 80s werent that great. at least, not the entire decade. Only while hagler was around-1980-82

I dont even follow boxing anymore. After Roy jones went down that was the point when all the good fighters were gone

Yeah, all that ..what was he, a surfer? I recall reading that he loved surfing more than fighting.

He would have been a fool if he had done with his atributes.

Perhaps the fighters who lack power, but still cut it against much harder punchers at world level, have the most fire inside them?

    For shame!

Maske had ten thousand flames of pure fire! He was 6 Dempseys wrapped by 3 Durans with a coil of Gatti holding everything in place!

Watch Angulo vs. Kirkland and tell me NOBODY today has any fire.

I do agree that skills in the kitchen aren't being taught well anymore, but modern fighters are far from gutless in the ring.

    Even Mayweather has examples.

Seeing the thread on Angel Espada vs Cuevas reminds me how lethargic and laid back he was.

Potentially very good smooth boxer-puncher, but he fought with all the urgency of a sloth.
