Meyerdiercks was a decorated amateur, with good defense and jab. Not quite the typical stand-up robotic Euro style as he does incorporate some side to side movement, but he isn't particularly versatile either. Bland but effective.


Allione is a slick nut-brown Argentinian, maybe a bit better than his record. He gave Scott Quigg a bit of difficulty early before getting knocked out. He is a bit chinny but Meyerdiercks is feather fisted...so this could be interesting.

Round 1

Meyerdiercks pops some jabs as the much shorter Allione shuffles left and curls his shoulders up around his face with his gloves up. Meyerdiercks places a few jabs on the hairline. Allione steps in and flings a few light straights into Meyerdiercks' face to slow him down a bit. Now Allione steps around him and gets up on his toes to thrust out some high left jabs, tripling them up. Meyerdiercks uses slight little baby steps, always moving forward but barely lifting his heels off the ground. Nice swift sideways ducking move by Meyerdiercks as Allione triples the jab again. Allione jabs the body. Meyerdiercks is coming forward but not throwing much. There's a jab to the chin. Long jabs by Meyerdiercks from outside, shifting his weight around from foot to foot.

Round 2

Allione hooks at the body and pitches right hands to the throat from his guard. Meyerdiercks is giving ground, putting out his jab. Light 1-2 by Meyerdiercks, blocked. Allione charges in landing body shots and Meyerdiercks skirts off the ropes to get back to the center of the ring. Allione spears a right to the body and Meyerdiercks tries to check hook him with a big sidestep but just grazes. Jabs to the guard by Meyerdiercks from outside. Allione comes charging in with jabs and rights to the body. NICE right hand up top catches Meyerdiercks about the face as he's trying to start his own flurry.

Come to think of it, this is a strange scheduling choice.

A title bout (even a minor title) contested over 10 rounds, before the 8-rounders? :think

Granted, the 8-rounders feature stars like JC Gomez and Ruslan Chagaev...but still. This contravenes standard hierarchy on boxing cards.
