Looking at the current list of dominant champions : Jones , Aldo , St Pierre , Silva Then there are the solid champions ; Cruz , dos Santos & Henderson who while appear on the borderline of being dominant , also have minor weaknesses , and happen to be in strong divisions , not that the others are not , but they simply are not as " dominant " as the above mentioned Well as it happens , id say the HW division poses more threats to dos Santos , than any other division , to any other champion There are a handful of guys who can potentially beat dos Santos , now don't get me wrong here , I'm not saying dos Santos will lose his title any time soon (because i believe he will not) but there are a number of guys beneath him , with the required skill to beat anybody on there day , that list includes the following IMO : Velasquez Cormier Barnett Werdum Overeem Jon Jones Any of them 6 on there day , are a handful for dos Santos , and for one another , I'm not sure anybody outside of them 6 can beat dos Santos , you can make a case for the likes of Silva and Mir and so on , but they don't stand a chance against a beast like dos Santos , if people are being honest
:yep So the two biggest threats to his throne are both well known cheats Cormier had the stunning upset over Bigfoot, but aside from that what's he done in MMA? White will keep Jones at 205 for as long as he can so that fights in the far distance Werdum? Hes improved a ton thats for sure. Along with Velasquez he's maybe the best clean bet - that would make for a cracking title shot decider
He's not exactly banned per se. As he's effectively a Zuffa employee now. But he and Dana have a personal spat (or rather Dana has a personal vendetta) where he was quite vocal about never working with Barnett. Just Dana having one of his usual temper tantrums. Once the GP is over Barnett will be in the UFC. Bet on it.
I think it's going to be someone who catches him striking. Guys with big power and experience have a fair chance.. Overeem and Hunt are the sort of fighters I think have a shot. Guys with a pedigree in striking that may lack emphasis on wrestling will be more used to exchanging with a guy like JDS. Guys that tend to look for the takedown and do work on the ground are going to have shaky standup compared to JDS and will get clobbered.
