Round 3

Allione dives in, rolling his body to the left and thrusting his left jab high into Meyerdiercks' face. Nice body hooks by Allione as he stays under the plane of Meyerdiercks' own jab and up in his chest. Meyerdiercks tries to back out to his preferred range and Allione keeps tracking him with the jab while leaning side to side with his guard up and following with equally short footsteps. Meyerdiercks finally gets a solid blow in, a right hand lead, but Allione shrugs it off and keeps lunging in with his jabs, harrying Meyerdiercks until the final bell.

I love that they keep playing Phil Collins' Sussudio between rounds.

Round 4

Allione comes forward and tries to wedge his way inside as he did in rounds 2 and 3, but Meyerdiercks is keeping him out with the jab. Some more force on it now, and his location with it has improved. Meyerdiercks keeps Allione on the outside and tags him with a right hand to the bowed head while trying to charge in with an overhead flurry. Allione circles and tries to think up an entry strategy. Hooks to the hip get him halfway there, but Meyerdiercks won't drop his guard all the way or give up on his sentry jab. Soft left hook by Meyerdiercks from outside in place of the jab. NICE right hand, left hook by Allione leaping in. Double jab to the guard by Allione. Sneaky right hand lead by Meyerdiercks. Flurry by Allione, blocked.

Close, but 10-9 Meyerdiercks as he regains some form despite Allione still having some successes.

Yeah, even with some careful progression and seasoning I can't see Meyerdiercks doing anything but get eaten alive by any of the featherweight champs (or even top 15 guys)

 

Round 5

Allione steps around to his left and throws in short combos, two and three straight lunges at a time. Meyerdiercks is sliding in time with him and popping long left jabs in his face. That's really all that is happening. High 1-2's and 1-2-1's by Allione with the occasional hook to the body mixed in when he's close enough, and single pot shot jabs by Meyerdiercks as they circle endlessly. Least entertaining round since the 1st, maybe less.

Meyerdiercks is letting himself get outworked, accurate jab or no.

Round 6

Allione keeps pumping the jab and circling in close. Meyerdiercks pushes his left jab out and tries to circle away. All about subtle ring control now, pretty much arriving at a stalemate. Whipping underhands to the body by Allione on the pass-by. 1-2-1 by Allione, driving Meyerdiercks back and forcing him to cover up. Meyerdiercks DOWN!!! Nope, not a knockdown. Slip/footstomp-and-tumble. Allione gestures to touch gloves. Allione then keeps tapping all around Meyerdiercks' body and giving him no quarter.

58-56 Allione

 

Allione stepped on his foot by accident as Meyerdiercks tried to back up, and did land a punch but the foot is why he went down.

Ref ruled it a slip.

Allione apologized afterward.

 

Round 7

Allione leads with his right hand, building into straight combos as he comes forward. Now it's the 2-1-2 at the forefront of his attack rather than the inverse. Meyerdiercks is trying to time him, and does land a good solid straight right lead but is largely getting backed up and failing to execute his jab at short range as Allione hustles inside and taps away. Meyerdiercks backs up and puts up his guard as Allione steps forward and lunges with a jab. 1-2 lands for Meyerdiercks, and Allione backs up. The crowd thinks he is hurt, and cheers Meyerdiercks on! Flurry by Meyerdiercks as Allione sits back against the ropes. RIGHT HAND BY MEYERDIERCKS!! Allione hooks the body while ducking away to the side.
