Does an undefeated record mean nothing? Losses are what make a true great, right?

Being undefeated but facing top caliber opposition is what counts.

That's all there is to it.

And any fighter who loses, but comes back at the same level or even better is what counts as well.

 

I could never rank him above any of the greats ,I read some people would rank him above SRR if beats Martinez :huh No fighter that picks and choses his opponents and takes a yr off then only fights once a year should ever be ranked above a legend like that !

 

by that logic Robinson shouldn't be ranked that high. His break from boxing was even longer than Floyd's retirement, out for over 3 years.

 

There is a reason why Robinosn is ranked so high :

Quality of oppnents

Longevity

Record !

Robinson had over 100 fights ! Fought 15 rounders ..Are you really comparing the two ?

SRL also had a long layoff as well ..Are we going to compare him to Floyd as well ?

 

My point is why hold retirements and breaks against them? That's some personal preference we don't like as fans.

who they beat, how good their opponents were at the time of the fights, and the manner in which they beat them are important.

Juan is a great fighter though. He isn't great at the weight Floyd fought him at but still showed to be good enough two years after Floyd fought him.

 

Against a guy he fought 3 times ..I think thats more of a style match up ..I have yet to see Juan in against another welter to really make that assesment .. I mean its not like Manny is a natural welter either ..Thats another reason why if Manny and Floyd fight the result will be similar to the Marquez Floyd fight ..Floyd seems more comfortable at the higher weights ..
