Hamed was far from the best ever, but he was far from a hypejob. :-(

 

I rate Nas as a British fighter amongst the really true greats of the British boxing ring going as far back as Ted kid Lewis.He was never a hypejob,as any intelligent boxing fan will tell you.

Hamed was a cocky fighter with a certain swagger that was very divisive. Barrera clearly won the fight and made Hamed look a bit stupid, he certainly didn't retire him. Hamed retired due to hand injuries, look it up.
Had Naz faced the elite earlier in his career it might have gone better for him. In the Barrera fight he was clearly out of shape and not as fast as he was.
Still, like Hatton, there is no disgrace in losing to a ATG, but let's be real Naz fans, Naz is does not belong in that category. He was one of the most exciting fighters ever but not one of the best.

Naz struck me as the most physically gifted fighter I have ever seen in the lower weight classes. His athleticism amazed me. However, I knew his time had come when he chose to fight Marco. Marco may not be as physically gifted as Naz - not even close - but Marco had learned how to Box well, and had become a complete Boxer by this time who could fight any style - a rare thing amongst Boxers. So I was not surprised that marco won, but I was amazed at how badly Naz was humiliated. Marco stole Naz's Mojo...forever.

After the Barrera fight, Naz had to face up to the fact that even though he was athletically superior, he didn't really know that much about boxing, and that there was no way he was ever going to face down the likes of Barrera, Morales, Marquez, Pacquiao, etc... At the age of 26, Naz was finished.

 

This. The fact that MAB retired him at 26 says a lot. I think no matter who beat Naz, he would have retired afterwards. He was one of those guys who cherished his 0, and when it went, so did he.

 

You could be right...I just don't know for sure (I was speculating).

I was figuring it this way....if you are in Naz's shoes, and you come to realize that all of a sudden you got to get over 10 years of progressively bad habits in order to be competitive at the top level, then that's just got to depress the crap out of you.
