Naseem Hamed Vs Barrera

Barrera is my all time #2,and the Hamed fight is the most delicious administration of poetic justice in recent memory.I have no problem with people saying it was a schooling because of the joy it brought to see Hamed nullified.
But it was far from a beatdown.He schooled him to an extent,but it was more a superb display of how to deal with Hamed more than a complete schoooling.
I watched it again at a Barrera dinner a few weeks back and it just wasn't as one sided as some people remember.
Who gives a **** though? It was still delicious.

Cant help but wonder how the fight would have gone if Naz was in his prime, shame he left Ingle and lost his focus and became obsessed with his punching power.

 

This post is exactly indicative of how ridiulously overrated Hamed's resume is.When he beat Tom Johnson,Boom Boom was 33 and had just DRAWN BEFORE FIGHTING HAMED,lol.In the 2 1/2 years before the Hamed fight,Kevin Kelley was stopped and drew twice against men that nobody on these boards could remember their names without boxrecing them.Medina had lost something like 3 of his 8 fights just before fighting Hamed.Vazquez was 37 years old and had done just what(?) before Hamed?Bungu fought Hamed after his split decision and majority decision victories in 2 of his 3 fights AT 122 POUNDS!!!Of the group that you mentioned,McCullough was easily the best p4p as he also had one of the greatest chins ever,but was A ****ING SOFT PUNCHING BANTAMWEIGHT,lol.Look it up.Everything I wrote here is the complete truth.Truth is,Hamed had a pretty good at best resume.That's it.One question for all you Hamed excusemakers out there.What fighter on his resume is anywhere near the same level as Marco Antonio Barrera?Will any of you step up and simply answer the question?

 

If you are a Hamed fan,then you will know that he was ALWAYS UNFOCUSED,as there were very,very few fighters out there that lacked the discipline that he did.Whether you would admit it or not is another story.

He wasn't even close to elite as he never did anything in his career to indicate he was close to elite.The problem with him is that you and his other legion of excusemakers simply cannot accept the fact that not only was he vastly overrated by you and your ilk,but that his usually reprehensibly classless behavior would create a whole lot of negative responses.He was a very,very dislikable and classless individual,but you and the rest of his excusemakers are offended by the negative reactions that your hero brought upon himself by his absolute shitty behavior.

 

No.Ted "Kid" Lewis is clearly and ATG.Hamed isn't even an ATG featherweight.But I guess style is more important than substance for you.

You're bragging about his knocking out of Augie Sanchez?You are aware that Augie was stretchered out of the ring BEFORE he fought Hamed,and AGAINST WHOM?And was subsequently stretchered out once more after Hamed?If I were you,I wouldn't use Augie Sanchez as an indicator of how good Hamed's resume was unless you're like me and want to expose Hamed for what he actually was(not that I have to try very hard to be successful and truthful in doing so,).

If you actually read my original post, I made the following points:

1) The best fighters Hamed faced were all at the back end of their careers.

2) His career lacks a defining win

3) Barrera was the only great fighter he faced, and he lost convincingly

It doesn't contradict anything in your post, so I'm not sure where you get the notion that I'm overrating the guy.

I think the only area we'll probably disagree in is how good Hamed could have been, if he had been fully committed throughout his career. The potential he showed early on in his career was uncommon, and I think people underestimate just how early on he lost his focus. The common perception seems to be that it was in the build-up to the McCullough fight, but that was just the culmination. His bad habits got out of control well before the Robinson fight, and by that point he was barely listening to Ingle. He was a household name in the UK when he was still fighting WBC International fights (whatever they are), and had all the trappings of a superstar without any of the accomplishments.

Would he have beaten Barrera if he wasn't a delusional egomaniac? Who knows, but he would surely have had a better career.

 

Got it off my chest,?I just love to respond to the bull**** monthly Hamed ball-licking threads on ESB.And,they ARE monthly.Funny how you failed to respond to the Hamed overrating posts in this thread,but chose to respond to mine.You also wrote that those fighters were "highly regarded".The only people that regarded those fellows "highly" at that point in their careers(and at 126 in the case of Bungu)were Hamed fans and the networks,knowing that Hamed was a cash cow.Although you did mention that they were at the tail end of their careers.Anyone else that claims these fellows were anything special when Hamed fought them simply wasn't paying attention.Having written that,he was technically deficient throughout his WHOLE career and was ripe for the embarrassment he would suffer at the hands of MAB.The hilarious part is that his fans are in total denial over that.Just read the contris of his fans on this thread,.You should read the monthly Hamed threads.One of the most common excuses for his loss to MAB is that he broke away from Ingle.I **** you not.lol!

 

MAB made Naz his ****ing *****. No two ways about it.
