He was 1 fight away from a world title shot, which he inevitably would have won or lost by 1st round KO

Only two of his fights lasted the distance, and he never went beyond eight rounds. 24 of his 28 fights ended within 4 rounds.

Curtis Parker...Although I was upset to the point of tears when he beat the Worm at the old spectrum, the Worm was the first guy to last 10 rds. w/ Parker. Parker had some pop, and made it to the fringes of contender status. Respectable losses to guys like Hamsho x2, Scypion and Olajide would stop him from reaching the elite.

I was going to pick:

Charlie "Choo Choo" Brown, but since he won the IBF lightweight strap I figured he didn't qualify based upon the criteria.

Then: David Bey, but since he fought Holmes for the title I figured that disqualified him too...

 

Ray Actis, Billy Conn said he hit him harder then Joe Louis.

 

Messers Archie Moore said the hardest puncher he ever faced was Hatchetman Shepherd so that's saying a hellva mouthful.

 

Artie Levine (KOd Walker Smith Jr.) deserves a mention .

And floored JMM and lasted d full 10 rds against him .
But durable ? maybe during his short prime vs weak opponents he had in it . Still , a good mention because he is obscure and could punch .
