I wish I could understand Spanish, I know some of you Esb heads translate

part 2 (the first link) at around the 4:20 min mark he teaches the presenter a lil pad work, really smooth and a badass combo

JMM: It's important to always keep jabbing...keep jabbing and use lateral steps, without showing an open target. Lateral steps, and then, for example (throws left hook to the body)...the pivot/turn gives you the swing to throw a hook downstairs, and a hook upstairs.

Announcer Dude: And the hand doesn't come all the way back...

JMM: Exactly, it doesn't come back. It stays right there. One throws the hook to the liver, and what makes the movement (to switch upstairs and hook) is the waste.

Announcer Dude: And for the hook to the body, I see that your arm goes like this (demonstrates a short, somewhat straightened hook to the body on the inside )...

JMM: Yes.

Announcer Dude: It's not like this (demonstrates looped left to the outside of the body.)

JMM: No. It's never outside. Well, there are some that throw it outside (loop it) and they succeed in connecting it, but what the rules and (proper) technique indicate is that it should be here- in the middle.

Announcer Dude: And you repeat upstairs, and then it opens the door for other things.

JMM: You can do a lot of things there. You can do: hook to the liver-left uppercut-right hand-left hook-right to the body-left downstairs again-and (hook) upstairs. You can come up with four or five punches, and even more.

(Announcer Dude throws a jab-cross-left hook downstairs on the heavy bag)

JMM: Yes, but remember that the hook to the liver is always right here. You're already right here (shows the centered target of the jab), just turn your waist (pivots into right cross), and pull (pivots back into hook to body onto same latitude as the jab, but lower). With the same hand here, just turn the waist, and pull. Movement of the waist.

Announcer Dude: And bring it back immediately, because if you fail, or it doesn't land the way you want it to...

JMM: Always, always, when you throw a left hook to the body of a fighter, what the fighter throws at you-throw a hook at me-he's going to throw this hook (upstairs); see that? Always.

Announcer Dude: Through the guard.

JMM: Through the guard. And so what you have to do there is, with this hand (right), always cover yourself, and when they throw the hook, they now hit your glove. Or equally, use movement of the waist- I'll throw the hook (to the body) at you, and you throw the upstairs hook back, the one I was talking about: (demonstrates) So I throw the hook, and what comes back is a hook upstairs (weaves out under hook). And so you always have to be moving defensively, because for every action, there is a reaction.

Announcer Dude: So, the thing is to read (your opponent) long before the other starts throwing the punches, Juan.

JMM: That's right. You have to anticipate. You have to forward your thinking towards what he's going to do.

Announcer Dude: Normally, in boxing, in combat sports, we only think of what we can realize offensively, and we forget that the other also thinks and reacts.

JMM: Exactly. It's there in the quote, that for every action there is a reaction, and we forget that-there you are in front, throwing shots; and you think "how cool, the way I'm throwing these", until they connect on you; and it's difficult, and the opponent must respond.

Announcer Dude: And the other is working as well, as hard as you.

JMM: Yes, always one tries to work as hard or harder; perhaps it ends up being the opponent or myself; but here, the work is never left undone. The work is always done and the conditioning is up to par. The physical condition/stamina is what gives you confidence, it's what gives you the discipline to keep working.

Crazy how he has such a long link of combinations simply at the ready locked in within his mind and body to be able to rattle them off so casually. The premeditated counters reflect his experience as well. I'm actually glad this part was requested, I was really intrigued by his focus on hooking to the body in the same middle as you would target in jabbing upstairs, except down low to the body.

you wouldn't happen to have a translation of when he's on the pads, doing some solid combo work,

I like how he mentions that fighters usually dont expect 5 or more punch combinations so thats why he throws them
