Isn't it ironic that Wladimir was supposed to be "fed" to Peter?

I can't even fathom the two being on co-main event fights on the same card anymore  I'm sure given the way they looked against Peter and Torres respectively, both have gone on to surpass the expectations of many. Cotto's built a fantastic HOF-type career and found success up to 154 and Wlad's been nothing short of dominant since then (albeit against fighters no where near HOF level).

Well...considering how it really put Wladimir on track to where he is today, not that much of a stretch really. Not considering how many defenses Wladimir now has, how many years he's been undefeated, the way he overcame adversity in the fight when people thought he would fold and didn't, etc...

It was really a turning point for his career.

I agree with all of those points, but it's not a top 5 Heavyweight win based on them...

Top Great Heavyweight wins should be based primarily on quality of the opponent.

With Emanuel Steward in his corner Wlad won the fight of his life. This fight was they "key" fight after all the **** happens against Brewster.

With this team Wlad gets closer and works his way back to the top. This shows how great his heart is and what a great Champ he is.

All talk aside of having anxiety and stamina issues when under heavy pressure and so on......Wlad has heart and believes in himself. Nobody can deny that.

TBH it was his best win. TOP 5 . . . hahahah!

Lets be honest, Peter looked ok coming up the ranks but he had problems pushing away from the buffet table. Fans love heavies with concussive KO power so his boxing reputation far exceeded his ability. That all being said I thought Wlad fold like a wet suit but he showed me something that night and I was mildly impressed.

But that was Sam ****ing Peters . . .lol . . . not an ATG or p4p fighter:D

That's the fight that made me a fan. It must have been 2007 when I first watched it, and I didn't actually know who won the fight when I saw it on Youtube. I was mostly watching old Lewis fights and classics at the time. The video I watched showed a fair bit of build up to the fight, and I knew he'd lost a few times before so I watched it thinking it was going to be one of his losses. Turned out it wasn't!
