The production value on Channel 5 boxing is brilliant.

i can understand what your saying ,but when hatton was doing ppv's against fighters its not like it was just Sky who were profiting out of it ,hatton was aswell ... unfrotunatly Sky dont owe hatton or any other promotors a living

what i dont like is theought of sky having a near exclusive contract with one promotor ,its pretty much the same as ****** with boxnation .

 

For the majority of the fans/boxing in general I'd say the best outcome would be a short term deal with Channel 5 with the rest of the shows being shown online. I doubt Hatton would go with ESPN/Boxnation as the lure of Channel 5's one million plus viewers should prove too much.

 

I agree ( a bit) Hatton also made a shedload of cash through being on Sky, works both ways.

 

Ricky was the backbone of Sky Sports boxing for a long time and to be told via an email that his services are no longer required is terrible. Couple this with the fact that his organisation invested somewhere in the region of £2m in Hatton TV and has a stable of fighters without TV exposure it's a dark day for British boxing.

Would rather see any of those cards than Bellew-McIntosh. Hatton's been supportive of the grass roots too, can understand Sky not giving him much but it seems to me they've forced him to match Quigg and Munroe then dropped him.

however Hatton has a 2 year contract. they were aware of the demands set by sky and they did not deliver.

this is the best thing to happen to british boxing in a long time for me.

Crolla-Matthews domestic FOTY so far this year...Sykes-Buckland domestic FOTY contender from 2011...Crolla-Morris, Wilson-Maxwell, Vassell-Purdy, all domestic FOTY contenders for 2010...

Yeah, **** shows they were.

Foster-Fegatilli was a good fight, Lyon-Wale could have become a classic if the cut hadn't stopped the fight early.

Vassell-Ushona was a good match-up; Ushona is a a very capable boxer and not your typical exported African fighter. Askin-Dawson was a fun fight between unbeaten fighters.

Murray-Blackwell was entertaining, but Blackwell was overmatched. Not a good card.

Sykes-Buckland, as already mentioned, was a domestic FOTY contender. Munroe fight was poor.

Vassell-Colomban was another good, competitive fight. Colomban is a decent operator.

Viewing figures do not necessarily mean a show is poor or not. You can blame Hatton Promotions/Sky for not promoting the shows. You can also say the choice of opponents, in terms of name recognition, has also been poor. I mean, hardly anyone on here had heard of the likes of Colomban and Ushona before the fights were announced, let alone casual fans. Yet despite them being a poor sell, they are good fighters and they proved it. TBH, there's not much difference in terms of ability between them and the likes of Jackiewicz and Spada, but those two guys are a much easier sell.

I'd have thought they'd sack off Mismatch rather than Hatton, who like Kos said has put on some good cards, both on and off TV.

His shows are often wank and full of no name foreigners (no Suarez) yet there's always a fight that he could make, yet seldom does.

Hearn in fairness has generally delivered since they started focusing more on boxing, he's put his men in good fights, win some lose some of course.

20 might be a bit much, unless they make a few signings, but I'm not going to lay into them from the word go. We had enough shite from Allegedly for Christ knows how long, with Eurobums and ''never been stopped'' guys, so give them a chance, I say.

 

Might pressure Hatton to match his fighters against Matchroom's just to get his lads on Sky and some exposure.

 

Sky care about getting viewers. they want big shows. thats what they asked for 2 years ago. Hearn is the only promoter to deliver on what Sky asked for.

 

Maybe Sky are happy to let a decent promotor like Hatton slip off the roster as he will possibly go towards terrestrial TV, do OK and possibly hurt BoxNations prospects thus serve Sky Sports interests in the long run.

The only promotor they could be sure wouldn't deal with W*rren was Hatton.
