I think Hatton's really going to struggle.

Poor viewing figures and none of his fighters have the personality of Fury or the name recognition of Eubank Jr, so it's a tough sell to Channel 5.

For the same reasons I can't see Frank offering him much to come on BoxNation as I can't his stable giving them much by the way of subscribers.

Hatton & Williams really need to pull something out of the hat here.

Booth and Galahad headlined a show a few weeks back. They show more than just Fury.

Murray is a likeable character (a world MW title shot would get as many as Fury), Buckland has a fan friendly style. Munroe has a story (boxing binman), Quigg is young and undefeated.

More than enough to work with there. Not to mention the Hatton name itself!

Can't be any harm in channel 5 giving them a couple of shows and seeing what the ratings are like.

Can't argue with Rob saying Sky want a better product in packed out arenas and so forth. That's all good for the sport, having a quality atmosphere is part of the viewing experience - just look at something like darts.

However my problem with this is that Sky are enabling Hearn to create a monopoly on British boxing here. It's going to end up like America where if you're not with Golden Boy or Al Haymon it's bloody difficult to get onto HBO. Soon as you sign with them all these TV dates suddenly become available for you.

So when it comes to signing up the top amateurs Eddie's going to be able to scoop them all up. Maybe now Eddie might come across as the saviour and a force for good in British boxing but let's see what happens in a few years.

Didn't his old man end up giving us so many of those shitty Eubank defences? What if Eddie ends up like that safe in the knowledge that he's got his TV dates and the quality starts dropping. That might not happen in the next year or two but who knows what'll happen 3 or 4 years down the line?

In the time between the two Benn fights Hearn did indeed put Eubank in with some right bums.

The 8 fight deal (in a year) with Sky was negotiated by Hearn but Eubank promoted himself.

    Sky want some razamataz!

It has to be slick and sexy! Thats what drives them, big fancy shows to build on.

Sky Sports News has women who should be in lads mags, while other channels have....

Thats the way it is. Brook-Hatton worked so well they realised they don't need small hall domestic shows. They'll be more suited as main undercards.

I think Sky want to go back to the Hamed and Lewis days and concentrate on large events. Thats why they've given Matchroom the dates.

Funniest thing is, Maloney might have the most sellable fighter in Price.

    Its a catch 22.

It could mean Hearn will have so many fighters he will be in a position to make 50-50s almost every fight every show and only the best move on to world level.

hopefully eddie sticks to his word. it seems the formula for success at Sky and in selling tickets is putting on good fights though.

The flip side to this is that it shows Sky are willing to cut you loose if they don't think you're delivering. Would have been interesting the reaction if W@rren hadn't started Boxnation and just been dropped

******s complain was he wasnt given enough dates. had he delivered the goods he would of been in the position to have the 20 dates.

Sky made there demands. Hearn is the only one to meet them.

Its a bit shitty that Sky have just got rid of Hatton and I would have preferred that they gave him a deal, but boxing is a business and some of Sky's biggest critics love to roll out that line at every opportunity - so spare me the morality argument. It doesnt matter that Hatton was their biggest fighter etc, doesnt mean **** and is irrelevant. Boxing is a business, remember.

But, Matchroom are without a shadow of a doubt the best promoter in the UK and have put on the best fights and shows, so I am glad they are in the ascendency.

If it werent for David Price, Maloney would have been a goner as well, his cards have been the worst and once he eventually leaves the scene he will not be missed in the slightest.

I would like to see next generation of promoters doing under cards for some of Hearns shows i.e. Spencer Fearon, Dave Coldwell and also in Ireland, Brian Peters. If Hearn can collaborate with his output, then overall this isnt such a bad thing. But time will tell, so lets give steady Eddie a chance to deliver and I think he will.

What is the full story, If there are no TV dates left after the 20 given to Matchroom and the 4 given to Maloney then its bang out of order, if there are dates that are still open to pitch for and the best cards gets accepted then that can only be a good thing surely?
