Poor example. The UFC aren't comparable at all to the NFL in any way shape or form.

A liquor company getting high and mighty preaching values. Tell that to all the drunk *******s beating their wives and raping their kids under the influence. How about they **** off with their advertising.

Well thought out and reasoned response. So go break it down for me and let me know 'how' an institution like the NFL is comparable to the UFC...Take your time sweet heart.

Don't disagree mate. But its very clear the UFC is now under an intense spotlight. But Will Dana dilute the UFC even further to kowtow to their paymasters?

Non issue from a bunch of try hard PC ****heads.

A US corporate giant that produces a product that has caused more misery than possibly any other then preaches that "dem fighters better be behavin' or we wont sell youse our liquor".

How about the AB marketing knobhead's each take one of those beer bottles and give themselves an anus uppercut. :deal

The UFC is going to appeal to people like myself because they have so many great fighters. So people who love fights are going to be fans regardless of what we think of the way the UFC promotes and hypes.

Then there are those who are fanboys, and they tend to be fanboys of Dana White and everything meathead. They drink Chaels sperm instead of milk, and at the same time call Overeem a hormone abusing cheating ******. Basically they don't think for themselves.

Then, there are hybrid fans who are fans of the fighters first, but still get a kick out of the hype, but don't fully buy into it.

I wish I could fall into category 3, but I'm too critical of things. I think so long as the UFC keeps down this particular path, and has the big attention ***** stars, they will have success. The problem is, the moment people get over the hype and the bull****, they hype meathead fans lose interest, and that leaves people who are actual fans of the fights.

Personally, I won't buy any PPV unless Wand or Shogun or one of my favorite fighters are fighting.

whats the point?? you only see what you want to see and if you cant already see any common ground between the ufc and the NFL then nothing i say is going to help because the blinkers are firmly locked in place

The WWE's problems are far beyond going PG. Indeed the downturn happened in 2002 way before the PG era - hell they were doing stuff like Katie Vick and Al Wilson then.

And in any case...is there anything Budwiser's demanding they do that isn't for the best? Don't see how stopping Dana issuing homophobic and sexist slurs or fighters making **** jokes on twitter makes the fights any less enjoyable.

Yeah, doesn't make the fights less enjoyable, but then I'd be more willing to pay for PPV if I liked the org. I haven't payed to watch a fight in a while now, part of my decision to go about finding how to not pay for fights be it going to the bar or other means was in part Dana White and his antics. The thing is paying for fights that are worth that amount of money. Some are worth it and I'd pay if I liked the org, some I wouldn't pay for anyhow.

This makes a lot of sense. It almost makes me feel bad for buying Jones/Evans.

Dana knows the fans and what they like, and he caters to them. It seems, and I don't want to offend anyone, that many of the people Dana is catering to are a bit dimwitted and enjoy his against the grain approach. I personally get irritated with what Dana says some of the time, yet he knows what sells.

I fall into category 3. I tend to lack a healthy level of critical thinking though. I have a buddy who is a bit of a sceptic and he gets on me about that. But if I were more critical, we probably wouldn't be such good friends in the first place :) .

pretty much the nature of all things...success leads to commercialization which leads to homogenization

    sad...but almost impossible to avoid

Thanks for not saying anything again the second time. I'm more than happy to explain why there's no correlation. You said its 'bull****'. And yet two posts later you still can't explain yourself.
