Why didnt Tyson go to the Olympics?

    he seemed like a beast of an amateur, so did he ever box for the USA, and go to any trials or anyhting?

    yes, then went pro at 18...so, i assume $ was the factor

    ah ok, i bet he was a sure thing for the olympics? i think he should have went. would have boosted his star status, but then again probably would have held him back from becoming the youngest hw champ?

    in hindsight, it would have been good for his maturity too, but when you grew up poor and someone waves a suitcase full of cash at you, i am sure it's hard to turn down

    Because Olympic boxing is boring and there is no money in it. The real boxing is in the pros, and he had the skills to go pro at that age.
