People wanna place advertisements and sponsorships in a " cage fighting " company , they should know what there getting !!!! , the UFC will say hey , **** Budweiser bring in the next schmuck who's gonna pay us millions to endorse there brand , NO ??? !!! As long as the UFC release the " correct " statement , its buried , water under the hatch
This is a sign that the UFC have hit the big time and they will be massively censored like other sports. They need to give their fighters training on what they can and can't do.
I'm not sure it is. The UFC have been a big brand for some time now. But the're not mainstream enough to get away with the crude image it has with the general public. It would appear the UFC is reaching critical mass and Zuffa/Dana is aware of that. Additional pressures such as this could prove to hurt the UFC's brand and business.
All of these business douche bags are so full of ****. Remember Dana dressed in a suit in Zuffa's early UFC days, trying to come across as nice and well mannered? Then, in order to go after their target audience, which I think is white males age 18-35 in the US, he started acting tough and saying **** a lot. Don't be surprised to see Dana changing personalities again in the near future as they try to broaden their audience. To continue with the full of **** theme, the beer companies don't give a **** about how athletes come across. The beer companies want to come across as giving a **** about how athletes come across. This is just a bunch of posturing. The beer companies give a **** about how much they pay to be an event sponsor. If the UFC's numbers aren't where they should be, viewer wise, that's when you'll see them having a real problem with the sponsors. If the UFC's ratings stay satisfactory, expect to see them keep clicking along. If their ratings take a fall then they will be in trouble. No matter what gets blamed, the ratings will be the real key.

Dana was a VERY different man when he started in this business. The steroids seem to have changed him quite drastically :yep I agree the whole morality of it is farcical. But my point is the scrutiny they're being placed under so that there is a mainstream acceptance of the product. In other words like most professional athletes the UFC brand is also expected to fall in line with other sports because of its name recognition. Personally i can't see 'how' Dana can water the product down any further whilst still placating his paymasters and sponsors. The two are polar opposites.
Scurla is just a bitter old bisexual who can't stand that he was a fan of something that then evolved and went mainstream. You'd think that a guy who was a fan of MMA would be HAPPY to see the sport grow, get a massive TV deal and achieve mainstream legitimacy as a sport. As opposed to being an irrelevant, corrupt circus sideshow run into the ground by a criminal organization. But apparently not. :conf MMA has never been bigger. It's never had this kind of mainstream recognition and acceptance. Fighters have never been paid more or had more opportunity to achieve name recognition and earn money by sponsorships, running training gyms etc. Basically, scurla is nothing more than a hipster with a shitty tattoo, crying that he was into the band when nobody knew who they were and that makes him cooler than you. If the UFC lost everyone of its sponsors tomorrow , the day later they would have new ones , with similar financial rewards , a dispute with Bud Light isn't going to sink the UFC , they are an accomplished brand / corporation and occasionally they have to tow the party line , if they don't they only make themselves look bad to " some " of there target audience But one thing will never change , this brand is MMA , cage fighting , combat sports , blood and guts .............. what ever you want to call it , and investors / sponsors know that , therefore a certain degree of PR leeway is granted !!!!
Again...what are they being asked to do that would water down the product? Are they being asked to remove blood? No. Are they being asked to stop fighters calling each other out? No. Are they being asked to change the rules to make the sport less violent? No. All they're being asked to do is stop people associated with the promotion using hate speech on things like twitter. I really struggle to see how Griffin and Torres being able to make **** jokes on twitter adds to anyone's enjoyment of the fights. Has Dana not being able to say '***' since Spring 2009 damaged UFC business? No. And its worth pointing out that most of these stories are old, some like the Gross/Hunt/Dana story are practically ancient. They've been dugged up because the Fertittas union enemies keep bugging UFC sponsors and Bud felt they needed to issue a statement.
