Ward is a boring feather fisted cheater who can't draw flies. If he was fully white, I still wouldn't support him.

No Froch and Kessler are !

When will the Bute fans stop blaming the Super 6 for his lack of depth in his resume ? How long has he been champ for ? I know no one wanted to fight him right .

Hey don't be mad Ward has accomplished more in less the time ... I mean why would you call that schedule tough its not like Bute has had a tougher one ! Must of been nice to milk that title for what 5 yrs ..

And im so glad you think Anthony Dirrell beats Green and Abraham ,Ward doesn't have to worry about that ,he actually beat them :hey

Funny how TS left out Sergey Tatevosyan who Froch stopped in 2, aswell as Froch KO'ing Magee out COLD 4 years before Bute got to Magee, Froch's stoppage was more impressive of the two.

Good thread! Bute is clearly the best at 168.

"fans of a guy who didn't even step up after he won his belt! " - then yes, Bute did kind of step up after winning his belt over Berrio.

Well you go ahead and mention the exact possible, willing and available opponents he should have fought outside the S6 knowing he can't fight over 168 lbs. Showtime actually chose Magee, and both Kessler & Pavlik were offered the fight before they signed Johnson.

4 fights in 2 years, two of which were Green and Abraham. I'm saying I'd favor Dirrell over both of them, accounting for the fact that if this fight were to happen tomorrow, Dirrell's resume means very little. He has a shot, and it's a H2H style matchup.

Indeed it is pretty ****in nice to be able to fill arenas with 15+ K people fighting B level opposition, especially outside that great tournament they called the S6. Now that it's over, he's proving to the boxing world he doesn't mind travelling to the Lion's Den even though HE is the draw. Ward not being an actual draw making max, and I mean tops 10K in Oakland and in Oakland only...... would he do the same and go to Europe, to Kessler for example? People gave a lot of **** to Bute for being a stay at home fighter, now that myth is in the books... can't say the same for Emeritus Champ Ward. :D

We don't really need that, do we.

Johnson didn't even act like he did against Froch. He seemed to fight a great fight against Froch, but against Bute it's like he was just there to just get the decision. And weren't Johnson and Bute good friends? That explains it! And Edison Miranda was shot before Bute, he got kTFO against Pavlik, then he lost against Abraham, and lost against Ward. As soon as he started fighting top opposition he lost, so no surprise that Bute KO'ed him. And what about Brinkley? A guy bute didn't Ko until the 9th round, whereas it took Kid Chocolate 3 rounds to destroy him. you just have to look at Bute's opponents to see that their records were full of c/d level fighters before they fought Bute. Compare that to Froch and Ward, and there's a massive difference.

Indeed Ward had a tough road during the s6 , 4 fights in 2 years at home , is worthy for a world record !:yep

I'm sure that Bute / Kessler would draw more than Ward in Oakland , no doubt ! :hey

Pavlik and Kessler really ..Well my understanding is that his promoters tried to low ball Kessler so not sure what happened there ..And Pavlik well no one knew where he would end up so not sure how serious that fight was ..But again he was champion since 07 Ward's record was what 13-0 at the time ..Yet Bute couldn't find anyone to fight being champ ..Yeah blame the S6..

And please explain as to why now he doesn't mind travleing now but before it was an issue ? I mean he is the man to beat right ? Its very nice that he is doing it now ,but like I said he was champion long before Ward was even a force at super midlde ! Oh and I never agreed that it was fair that Ward fought all of his fights in Oakland when people like Froch always fought on the road ..But you can't blame Ward blame the promoters !

And until Anthony Dirrell has proven he could hang with anyone B level or A level I won't even comment on him .

I think there was a Romanian guy who rent the distance with Bute but got blown out in 4 rounds by Froch. I will have to look his name up on boxrec.
