Vitali Klitschko vs Jersey Joe Walcott

I think vitali would win... Joe was a genius but he was vulnerable to powerful and agressive fighter (like marciano).. So I choose vitali. Jersey Joe against Wladimir is another story...

 

Yes, Wlad wins every second of every round before stopping him in 8.

 

The size disparity seems pretty insurmountable considering how formidable H2H Vitali is... 54lbs. :scaredas:

 

Jersey probably has the skills to give vitali issues but his style makes him more aggressive than he should have been imo.

Vitali stops him late on.

I'd favour jimmy young over vitali though.

 

I would give Jersey Joe a verry good chance here.

The smaller defensive heavyweights that Vitally Klitschko has dominated did not have Walcotts power and were not as complete technicaly.

Walcott was not realy any smaller than the cruiserweight Holyfield and he was verry strong physicaly for his size.

 

I did a thread on this a little while back.

Jersey Joe would school both Klitschko Bros and show them boxing skills they will never see in their careers. There is no fighter from todays heavyweight talent that has the skills of Walcott. I won't dispute that size would be an issue because Jersey Joe has a sizeable disadvantage against Wlad and Vitali when you talk about the the big three. Weight, height and reach. We will all agree to disagree about power, handspeed, and footspeed. I give the Klitsckhos the power advantage, don't know about the other two. Joe's not getting ko'ed early but I could see both Klitschkos stopping him late.

The Klitschkos are big targets. That means there's plenty to hit if you're a smart fighter like Joe that would move and set up his punches. If Byrd could hurt both Wlad and Vitali, there's no reason why Walcott can't and perhaps stop them both.

 

Jersey has zero chance against wlad. He has the tools to beat vitali but not the discipline.

 

I agree that Vitali (or Wlad) will see moves they never have. I also think the size differential will prove too much to overcome for Walcott.

Vitali--wins by decision as Walcott fights cautiously and moves about a lot. A very dull fight.

Wlad--although legacy wise Wlad is way above Vitali, I think Walcott has a much better chance here as he did have a dangerous punch and I think was clever enough to deliver it. I take Wlad but an upset ko is not out of the question.


*as an aside, I don't see Jimmy Young having any chance at all against either Vitali or Wlad. He just didn't have the punch to keep them honest nor the movement to keep them off balance. Walcott has a much better shot.

 

Vitali wins easily. In many ways Walcott has become one of the most over rated fighters on this board.

 

Young could replicate Byrd's success against vitali. He gets his **** pushed in by wlad though.

although Vitali dominated Kevin Johnson, Walcott would be a much better mover and more powerful pin point accurate puncher...this is a much more competitive fight and Vitali because of his size should win, however Vitali is not a puncher in the class of a Joe Louis or a Rocky Marciano but he uses his height very well...you may see Vitali on his ass in this fight but I think he could get the decision but a dangerous fight for him with JJW

 

You mean Vitali wreaks his shoulder and quits.

I have seen this fight in its entirety. Vitali doesn't have a career win and it is hard to rate him because of it, but I will say that he looked better than Byrd, was beating him decisively, and only lost because of a fluke injury.

Not being able to defeat the 38 year old Lewis is much more of a stain on Vitali's legacy.

*I am not a big Vitali fan, but h2h he would have been tough for the smaller champs of the past to defeat.

And, by the way, I think Chris Byrd was better than Jimmy Young.

 

What's his defence? Not volume punching, not movement, not slickness and he seems to have no guard at all. So basically Sam Peter without moving forward as quickly and without as good a chin
